Likes and dislikes about the EX35?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Just curious if anyone would be willing to share what they like and dislike about the car? I am looking to buy one, not sure if I will get a 10 or a 11 and am just wondering if anyone has any glaring issues or things they like a lot about the car compared to other crossovers.

Thanks.

Positives
Rear wheel drive, most of the others are front drive biased including the new Caddy SRX, decent power, gas mileage is decent (others will say BAD) compared to my old '08 Accord V6

Negatives
Cargo room could be more, more backseat legroom, I don't like the pushbutton start, would have rather have had a key ignition. Some will gripe about no power liftgate on a luxury brand, but the hatch is so easy to shut/open anyway.

1. Just curious, why don't you like the pushbutton start? Any particular reason, or just preference?

2. From what I have seen, it seems gas milage is about the same on the EX as with other similar cars, though maybe I have not looked enough.

Postitives - looks great, love the engine and power (specially for it's class), handling compromises comfort and sportiness, great seats, great interior, nav is nice and has lots of connectivity options, RWD but still AWD for our winters, auto up/down back seat, loaded with features for the price, Infiniti reliability and service (so far has been great)
Negatives - power locks sound cheap when they auto lock (shouldn't auto lock anyways), dash material can scratch pretty easily, cup holders won't hold two large coffees (for the road trips)

I wouldn't call the size/back seat/cargo a negative for me as we knew exactly how big it was when we bought it. We can fit two average size adults while sitting comfortably, has enough room with the seats down for heading to the cottage. I think it's the perfect car for a two people, or two and a small kid. Much more than that and I think you would be in need of more room.

Good luck,

HR

Yup, if you don't like the auto locks. shut em off.

Here's a few:

Likes:
Power, ride, handling, auto seat raise, keyless entry, audio options and yes sound of it. I love the front seats- I don't use the backs. Sport mode. Coat hanger on back of driver seat.

Dislikes:
needing to roll through all audio options to get to one at times.
no ability to put in accessory mode from running like you can with a key ignition
Many touch nav features disabled when in drive (yes many can still be done with voice though.)
More accurate temp gauge when sun is out.

^^ Unless I misunderstood what you said, I believe the car can be put into accessory mode? All you have to do is Push the button while NOT pressing on the brake pedal, it allows 2-3 different position, unless your talking about something else? After 3 presses (with foot off brake pedal) you should be able to turn on everything without having to start the vehicle. Again, unless I'm misunderstanding, sorry.

True, but that's not what I meant.....
It's a quirk of mine, and maybe it's that it's new, so I'm playing around with things.
So here's the deal.
I pull into a spot/garage and want to try some things on the dash. If I had a key ignition, I'd just turn the key one position to the left. With the EX, I have to hit the button to kill the engine, and then hit it again to put it into accessory. And of course, when one does this, whatever is on the screen goes back to square one- like checking option/nav, etc. I know I could leave the engine running, but I guess I'm just too cheap- don't rip on me for that.

Not a big deal, but something that hit me. I am liking not having to dig for a key though. So yeah, I'd rather have the keyless than a key ignition.

Yes I definitely don't like digging for the key, but then again I have managed to have other things in pocket thinking I have the car key, thus locking myself out of the house and the car. LMAO, but thats just me.

Even with keyless ignition you still have dig through and find/carry the keyloss fob transmitter.

why so? Just leave it in the purse/pocket.

Oh and I do wish the cupholder was a bit bigger as well as the door well pockets.

I've found it easier to misplace the fob then my keys too, usually I'm putting the fob in the cupholder, doesn't always fit in my pockets with the keys I have attached. When I have valeted the car, got to remember to give the keyfob, where as the keys would be in the ignition while the car is running etc. I've finally gotten used to it.
The cupholders could be bigger, but I've seen cars with ones that aren't as deep.

The gas mileage on my EX in my same everyday driving and commute (mostly in town) is the same that my 2008 Accord V6 was, pretty good considering the Accord was 19/29 EPA and the EX35 is only 16/23 EPA.
