What do you guys think of the new software? It will be under going some serious tweaking over the next few weeks. It's definitely cool from the Moderator aspect

its an improvement certainly in the right direction. on the old website i sometimes had to scroll left to right to read the thread, not needed here coz it compresses them into the page. i see that the ads on the right have gotten bigger. does it help if we click on them then close the page out? i wanted to bring that as a suggestion to the users of this forum if it helps bring in the dough to run this website.

I think it's cool. No more having to wait forever to look at a thread or post a reply. It took a while to get used to everything, but I like it.

The only thing wrong is the lack of smilies.

Smilies should be better today.

so i had some questions

1) how come on the left of the screen next to the thread titles some of the icons move, some are red, some are blue, and some are stationary?

2) i noticed some peoples names are different colors, WD's is blue, mine is black, i have seen some that are lighter blue?

3) what exactly does it take to be a moderator (just curious)

thanks WD

Thanks! I actually argued against that, but I'm spoiled with a wide monitor - I was convinced once I viewed the site on a smaller one!

Actually, we narrowed it down from 320 pixels wide to right around 250, to allow more room for the forum posts.

Actually, unless your click is "legit", we'd prefer you didn't. I know that sounds counter-intuitive, but a lot of ad networks frown on "click-stuffing". Certainly, if you see something that interests you and you want to read more about it, then by all means do so... but our revenue isn't based off clicks. (But thanks for thinking of us! :) )

Post up a really huge picture and see how it works now. :)

Easily the coolest new feature, something hardly ANY other forum has.

No, Greg is a busy mofo atm. I don't have any subscriptions either, the old subs didn't follow fwd when we upgraded software and unless you subscribe to every thread it won't show there. As far as I know the "stock" settings were set to see all the threads you post in, it does this by using the "search" function. The new software just allows us to configure buttons and use the "search" in all kinds of wicked cool new ways.

In your case I'm sure it's operator error :poke:

ok so tell me if i do it right.. i click on a thread i havent posted in yet, the guy needs help turning on his stereo, i quick reply and say turn the damn knob! (not an actual event)

is that doing it wrong lol

THat's associated with the SEARCH fnuction, which we are still tweaking.

There's so many little details and settings that have to be JUST right... We're making progress on it, but it's slow going.

Remember, we transferred this forum (huge to begin with) over from a software package with NO support, no assistance, and NO insight as to how it was set up on the back end. Lots of trial and error.

Not the ideal way, and I'd certainly have preferred it to be simpler, but we gotta work with what we've got.

All the new functions and issues are being addressed before "style" is worked on.

Please email one of us (or the webmaster) so we can fix your account.

There's no reason you'd have had to re-register unless you forgot your username, password, or changed email addresses.
