well, my 300 seems to be running on five cylinders. i'm really scared that its a ring fluttering, that's what it sounds like. it feels like it's in limp mode and is revving slower than normal. it is also burning oil. at idle the entire car shakes, and i think its a little excessive for the vg. if anyone has any clues on this, please lemme know. I'll be compression testing in the next few days.

Alright update time, compression tested about perfect: 179-180 PSI across all cylinders. Me and my buddy, Zack, Ohm tested all the coil packs, they showed between .8-.9 on all of them. We attempted to Ohm test the TPS but it didn't read anything on any of the terminals. We figured that everything was fine to crank it, so we did. It ran fine for awhile and we revved it a bit, it hesitated a bit after it warmed up a bit. Though, it was nothing to be too concerning. After it warmed up more it sounded exactly like a rod knock, like my friend Zack's s13 when its single slammer blew up. Though only after my Z warmed up a good bit. :tisk: Any one have any ideas on this? It's confusing the mess out of me and my mechanic friends.

Make a vid... From cold to warm. Maybe a failing lifter, oil warms up and leaks out? Or could be a bearing and one it warms up clearances are out of tolerance hence knock knock... Common problem on the vg. All just guesses though.

hmm, good ideas thanks. I'll make one tomorrow as its starting to get dark. I do know my TPS needs to be re-calibrated and that could be part of it. I'm planning on doing it tomorrow.

UPDATE- I let her warm up completely, and the "rod knock sound" had transformed auto-magically to a fairly loud lifter tick while still having the hesitation. Now i know and knowing is half the battle!

ALRIGHT! the car gods need to quit f'ing with me. now the problem is injector 3 (i think, the middle left) does not work and might need replacing. the wiring harness fell off of it and she kept running the exact same. we put it back on and no change, so now we know that one doesn't work..

the harness connector and injector male connector both were corroded so i cleaned them off and tried Ohm testing but i cant get a good read on it to save my life. its jumping from 12.3 to 14.5 and all in between, and i would rather not have to pull my intake plenum to get to the injector to pull it out. Short of grinding the casting down on the intake runner that is blocking access to one of the screws holding the injector down, is there any "trick" to get to it or do i just need to cowboy up and pull the plenum?

Ohm tested all the injectors and three tested fine, one didn't show resistance, one showed 24 Ohms and one showed 221.5 Ohms (double checked and will be checked again in the morning with another set of eyes) but i for sure have at least one bad injector.

Well, flow test came back: one non working injector and three barely working. Becky is going to be out of commission for awhile.

glad to see you figured it out, the plenum pull is easier than you think though. took me an over night (15hours) to pull my plenum, do my injectors, and put it back together as fast as i could. just remember to be careful and make a mental log of where everything goes, it will take longer but, it will help you big time. also, when you get down to the actual bolts that hold the upper manifold to the lower, dont forget the one with the longer head and a tapped hole in it. it DOES hold the plenum down very well, and also doubles as a hole for a throttle cable cover screw. best of luck to you and i hope everything goes quickly!

Thanks! I figured that one was important for something, I'm attempting to save for my TT swap so I'm not dropping the money for new ones or new top feed injectors. Hopefully i can get her running and run to Florida, but I'm not sure yet, depends on parts.
