I was soooooo close to buying the used jag in my post about being hit by that drunk driver. I was sure I would not find anything else that I'd fancy driving. It was black with London Tan (bourbon) leather matching my M's colour scheme. But it's funny how things work out sometimes. Pete, my guy at the CarMax dealership called Wednesday to tell me they were putting a 2009 M in for inspection to be prepped for their lot. He told me it was in pristine condition. and he thought I'd fancy a look at it even though it was not black.
Fetucini and I saw it yesterday and I put a hold on it so I could think on it overnight. This afternoon, when Fetucini got home from the gym, we went to the Tipsy Boar in Hollywood for some grub and we drove to CarMax and I bought it.
It's moonlight white tri-coat with wheat interior (opposite of my previous M) and it has 26k miles verified miles. it was a one-owner car with a perfectly clean car fax report that they bought at an estate auction. It has the Bose surround system and all the other options my M had .... plus the rear seat theater and reclining climate controlled seats in the rear ... and the sunshade that my old M did not have. It has less miles than the Jag and better mpg (v6 Vs v8 engine in the jag), and we all know it's more reliable than a Jag. Then there were two things I didn't fancy about the Jag: the the odd-looking air con vents and the fact that the DRLs on the Jag doubled as turn indicators. When you have the turn indicator on, one side of the Jag has the whiet DRL and the other side is blinking in amber. That struck me as 'odd' and I thought ... was it really that much of a bother to add turn indicators separate from the DRLs?
Then there was the price. The used Jag was $50k. I scooped up this 09 M for just under $26k ..... with the Max Care warranty that goes to 60 months / 150,000 total miles. I fancy the blue-ish white speedo cluster (my old M had amber). The weather here is rain non-stop but I will snap some pics and post them soon.

Health update: I am receiving physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, and massage therapy. I am progressing very slowly. I am told it will be months before I have any hope to be cleared for rugby or any other physical activities. I have returned to work, but I mostly work from home as sitting upright is still a bit painful after about 2 hours time.

All in all, I am happy that I found another M in the body style I love and also happy to have spent half what I was about to spend on that Jag. And, I am also happy to be back with you lot, of course. I'm still resting and recuperating, but I will be active in here again when I am able.

Welcome back mate and congrats on the new beast!
Since no more black beast, are we goin to treat this one a lady Snow White perhaps? Or just white beast? I have the same car color combo but in 06 with all the fancy goodies, rear DVD and recline seats, awesome for the kids and guest but not us drivers :-(.
How do you like the newer body to your 06?
I'm not a bit fan of the tail lights but nice car with some added HP.
Can't wait to see pix, get well!

Welcome back Larz! We look forward to the new posts when you're feeling up to making some improvements to it. What kind of tires came on it and will they last you a while longer? I bought mine with the same mileage, but it had the RSA's which I couldn't get rid of fast enough.

Best wishes with the healing. My wife crashed her bike during a triathalon a year ago this weekend is just getting back to feeling like she is ready to start riding again. I hope you get better a lot faster than she did.

Thanks mates, for the welcome. I'm still not up to crawling around and snapping shots of the car, but as the registered buyer of the car, I have access to the pics from the website even though the car is no longer on it. I didn't think to ask before buying it, but seems this car may have the 7-spd gear box. I haven't noticed any difference in the shifting as was reported by others so maybe this car has already had the TSB update done. When I take it to my Infiniti service guy, I'll ask him to verify which gear box is on this car.

Kmiles: I fancy the newer, smaller red sections of the tail lights, but I like the 06-07 front end more than this one. The rest of the body and the interior is no difference that I can see. I was sorry to learn about your wife's injury amd I'm glad she is nearly back to normal. This car has the Eagle RSA's as well. They are new so I will probably keep them until they wear down a bit before tossing them. I miss my Ventus S1noble2's. Ventus and Michelin really put these Goodyear's to shame in every aspect of driving.

Welcome back Larz. Make sure to have Fettucini drive you around and you can sit in the back and recline the seats real nice. You know...to help you heal faster and better.

I bet that car will look Very nice with some dark tint. Always liked white cars with dark tint. You'll need it in Florida.

Thanks, mate! The car has tinted windows already but the I am going to take it to the tint shop that did my other cars and have the front windscreen done with the 3M clear film that prevents UV rays, etc. I am also considering having the roof done in black - either a wrap or painted.

Carbon fibre wrap the roof. Looks cool and you can remove it should you wish to sell. Very nice! Florida streets are nice i would throw coilovers on that. Use these, http://www.tanabe-usa.com/rnd/post/Infi ... lover.aspx

Glad to hear you're back Larz...take it slow....on the other hand, get back into the modding bug

BTW, is it too late for you to get parts from your wrecked M?? ie: Hankooks, Osrams, day time running LED lights, etc..

anyway, good luck with the new car and best wishes on your recovery :dblthumb:

My mate Scooter drove me over to the final place where the car was stored so I could sign the title over to the insurance company. They allowed us to remove personal items but since I wasn't thinking about buying another car at the time, I didn't bother to remove the LEDs or Osrams, etc. When I found this new M, I called the storage place thinking I could go back and remove more items, but they told me the car was removed the same day I signed the title over.

Welcome back! Glad to hear you're doing better! 09+ does have the 7 spd transmission and if you want to verify for yourself check the Vin placard on the drivers side door latch (pillar between both doors) If you consider the NAV HACK a key upgrade contact www.strictlygz.com for a plug and play wiring harness! I did it to mine and it was amazingly easy to install and awesome now that all the functions are usable while driving including TV!! Cost is about $124.99 shipped! I did the old style splicing wires 08M45s and the shop charged me $180 to do it! This way is done right and cheaper!!

Hope you have a full recovery! :bigthumb:

So glad you're back Larz. I actually dreaded (my M's pet name is Dred) you leaving the family. My people have an adage that says when a fire guts the king's palace,it's to add dignity to it! In other words, the accident got you a nicer choice. Good to note too that you're healing fast.

Very nice choice for your new M!!!! Be very careful with the maintenance that you allow carmax to preform on your car. I did something that I was told to do as a young man , if you buy a used car have it checked out by a mechanic. Since I was buying an infiniti, I took my car in to the dealership, to have them check it out from top to bottom and received a print out to take back to show all the things that need to be fixed on my so call new/used car. The breaks scrubbed like metal to metal sound. This was one of the major problems. Carmax would only put new brake pads on the car, not the complete rotor/ shim/ and pads that the car really needed to stop the scrubbing sound. When I asked the service manager to come and drive my car so he could hear the sound the car was making for himself, he refused to drive my car and said his service guy said " he could barely hear the scrubbing". So the straw that broke the camels back was when I asked the question, " if you owned this car you would feel comfortable driving your family around in a car that the brakes are scrubbing and three wheels were out of round?" He said he would feel safe driving that car. So I went ape $#!+ and they gave me a refund for my car. I drove a GMC envoy when I stepped on the brakes the small suv stopped without making any sound. So am I to believe the brakes are better on a '03 envoy than a '07 M45? Be very careful with carmax. Oh by the way I had the car shipped from North Carolina. I hope you have better luck with carmax than I did. I got my refund and spent alittle more and got a certified '08 M35S form the infiniti lot= happy M owner. Be very careful my friend. :ohno:

'07 M 45 had a few issues:
42k miles... no maintenance service since 15k
wheels .... 3 out of 4 bent noticed when balancing tires
radio speaker rattle
brakes scrubbing.

I'm with you, mate. CarMax has NEVER serviced my cars and never will. Not because of a bad experience, just because I have a good relationship with my service rep at Lauderdale Infiniti. That's where anything major gets done. For tires and such I might use as local shop that has been reliable and trustworthy.
With my warranty, I have a $50 co-pay at Infiniti and a $0 copayment at Carmax, but I still use Infiniti.
