lightweight flywheel or oem?

I ve been doing some research about lightweight flywheels vs oem weight. so ive been told that oem flywheel weight is better for a boosted car because it has a heavier rotating mass and is better for building boost. as apposed to lightweight flywheel which will help the rpms rev faster because less rotating mass... does this have a significant effect on building boost to reach power goals? I am using the car as a daily and heard of some people not liking the lightweight flywheels. im not using the 240 for autocross or drifitng, more around the str8 line high horsepower goals like 450+whp. any input would help me with my new clutch flywheel setup thanks

Lightweight flywheel all the way. NA or boosted. It helps the engine rev up and restores horsepower. The theory of lag or lack of torque going uphill is NOT noticeable. The only real problem is balance. I wouldn't trust brand A flywheel company and brand B clutch company to be balanced together. I suggest you take whatever clutch and flywheel combination to a trusted machine shop to get high speed balanced. The KA needs all the help it can get in the balance department. About $70.

A heavier flywheel does "absorb" more harmonics than a lightweight one.

It also keeps the engine rotating due to it's mass, where a light weight unit will not. I could tell a difference in how fast the rpms came down when I added a Fidenza.

Generally, if you're going supercharger, stick with a heavier flywheel. Turbo cars can afford to go light.

I prefer the driveabilty of the oem flywheel. So daily = oem, Track car = lightweight

i run a fidanza myself, on a road coarse you will be braking and accelerating often..you might want to stick lightend for the throttle responce..on the otherhand...if you have a high horsepower goal (Over 350) you might want to consider a hybrid set up like the (Whitebunny) set up to hold the power..its cheep and effective..to hold the power with a light set up, the clutch plates ect will be costly..just so you know..hope this helps.

If you are balls out performance than go with a lightened. If you like smooth shifts, less noise and problems go with the oem imo.
