so ive posted a ? on the " im new here" thread. gotten some help but im still stuck. i have a 92' 240sx its a KA and my headlights wont go down. ive already pushed power to the motors and the both will go up and down so the motors r good. I have pulled the relays and replaced them all with a few from the junkyard seeing as they r like 30 bucks a piece. i have a power probe 3 but im not quite sure how to check if the relays that i got from the yard are good or not. i also removed my headlight switch and opened it up and cleaned the contacts inside. my headlights still wont go down and not sure what to do next.

i also have a problem with my radio and the clock in the instrument cluster. whenever i turn the car off the clock and radio lose the memory and i have to reset the clock after each time getting in the car. where should i run a new memory wire from for the radio?
the seat belts also do not retract unless the key is in the on position. let me know if anyone has any ideas on what to do. i would much appreciate it. :dblthumb:

all your problems are probably related. I had a similar problem when i first got my second 240. it ended up being the ignition relay, its located behind the fuse panel on the driver side kick panel

Checking relays is kind of a pain but can be done. First you would want to check continuity from your ”trigger” source. Then you want to power your trigger source (and obviously ground the other pin to complete the curcuit) and check continuity on the pins that are supposed to be ”relayed”. If you find any resistance in any if the relay, or when the trigger is powered doesn't trip the relay than is bad. Ive found the easiest way to do this is to make you're own little relay testing harness with female spade connectors, because otherwise you don't have enough fingers to do everything at once. Lol. The curcuit diagram of the relay is on the top with numbers and then on the inside of the relay next to the corresponding pin is the matching number.

so ive replace my altenator with one from a 97 nissan quest. my headlights dont dim while i drive anymore and somehow my seatbelts started working. but my headlights still wont go down. ive been trying to figure out how to run a memory wire to fix my headunit and to fix my clock in my instrument cluster.

Again, these problems are related. you have a failed relay that is keeping you from getting power.

The clock isn't relayed, check my signature on how to fix s13 gauge cluster wiring and the wire colors are all in there to test. First place I would check is your fuses.

so i checked all the relays and they all work. ive pulled a switch for the headlights out of a car from the junkyard and replaced it but still nothing. is there anyway that i can check to see if my switch is bad? ive already pulled apart my headlamp switch and cleaned all the contacts. im kinda new on the whole electrical thing but i know some about coninuity and using a voltmeter. i could really use some help
