Lights won't come on automatically after replacement?

Hi,
A friend came over to my house today so I could replace the bulbs in her QX4 (2003ish?). They both came on and the dimming feature where the move up and down worked but they won't come on when set to auto now? She just checked and left so I could check for a fuse or anything like that and it seemed weird. Any ideas?

Are you talking instrumnt cluster lights?

I think he means the Auto Headlights won't come on automatically.

Stupid question, but you did try to get them to work where it was somewhat dark?

He should only have to cover up the daylight sensor on the dashboard.

some times it takes a minute
