So i did a search on here but to no avail. I saw a guy today driving with his lights on but his light housings were not up. I've seen this before on FATF (on the 3000gt) but never up close. I found him at a store parking lot and asked him if he did the trick and how. I guess his buddy did it but he couldn't say how. All he could tell me was the headlight up/down was controlled with a toggle and the lights on/off still with the multi switch on the colum. I pulled out the wire schem. for my car but have not been able to figure out where or how to do this trick. Has anybody seen or heard of or done this trick? Any info would be great.

You need to drain your headlight fluid and replace it with Motul Lite 1000.

Mine does that, but not by choice. I've yet to figure out what's causing that. I turn on the headlights by the combo switch and sometimes they'll stay in place and light up (without flipping up) and I'll have to hit the headlight up button to make them flip up, only then will they flip up then I can press the headlight button again to keep them up while not having to keep the headlight button down.

180fan: I've done a sleepy eye mod but I havent really been able to figure out why the motors can be controlled either way. I have some schematics but they dont give me polarity or signal path... maybe if i find the schematic for the combo switch it'll tell me something. wadda think?

I appreciate your idiocity but I wouldnt lie about that and sarcasm was far from my favor. Mine does light up and if you want a photo numbskull Ill go grab one. But to jump to conclusions makes you little worthy of accepting help in any situation.

Maybe you shoudl jsut pull the Bus fuse that controls the headlight movement. Quick fix the only problem is you cant turn them up when you want. haha Mine does it but i dont know why. If I did I would have stated it.

no prob thanks for the info. If the bus fuse actually stops the motors i think you gave me an idea for putting a toggle inline to turn the power on off to the motors when i like. hope it works.

I did this exact some thing with my car and it's pretty cool. your just disrupting the signal for the motors. I'm at school, so I don't remember exactly what fuse it was though. I can try and get the info for you if you want.

hmm personally I think for me, it's a ground connection as it only happens intermittently. I'll go check it out this weekend when I replace my rusted out headlight adjustment screws.

I actually have some pretty weird electrical problems (which I plan on sniffing out during christmas break) where if I have bulbs in my front turn signals, then when I turn on the headlight switch on the combo switch all my turn signals turn on and stay on...and the other thing is that when I hit the emergency blinkers, they'll blink as long as my headlights aren't on. When I pop out the bulbs for the front turn signals, then everything's fine. I suspect foul play in the headlight harness...which I do plan on pulling out and redoing for the most part.

It's a bastard-esque problem when you've got an electrical problem. I even thought it was my combo switch so went to a junkyard to pull one only to my dismay that it wasn't the combo switch. *shakes fist* But I'll tell you what I find this weekend if I happen to find anything in the vicinity of my headlights.

I found the link that I used to do my lights. It's very informative and easy to follow. Hope it helps.

so that thread was really helpful and i'll try it out in the next little while. I'm also going to do an experiment with an aftermarket actuator i have to see if i can create a sleepy eye look or for projector style lights. The actuator can be set to stop at a certain height or setting if you will. I'll post when I know more. Thanks for everybodys input!

hey rousie, the thread that you pointed out says you have to put a switch on each motor wire. Do you have 2 switches or 1 switch for both motors?

One switch is for adjusting the pop ups with the lights off and the other is when the lights are on. I only did it so I have a switch when the lights are on, so I can't have sleepies with the lights off. I don't like my lights open at all when my headlights aren't on.

Could you like make a custom riostat <-- spelling omitted for the headlight hight? That would be interesting. Then you could like dial in the hieght of the headlights with a knob. haha interesting.

i think for the sake of knowledge I'd like to buy a pivot control box and see how it's made. Maybe a cheaper box could be made ?

So i finished my install using the diagrams provided and it works pretty slick. I only installed one switch because i cut the brown wire on the pop up switch for the hedlight control. That way i can have sleepy eyes w/lights on or off and have my lights on w/my light housings down. It works well but i think i'll switch it 2 a pivot box later. Acuator idea is more in depth than i first thought.I'll keep at it and post if it works. The acuators i have are only 25$/pair(cdn) so if it works it's better than 90$ amcn for the pivot box. But it sure would be nice to know how the pivot box works!!!!!!!!!!!!
