Lights on the dash and brake pedal

I was pumping the brakes while the car was off trying to figure out a squeaking noise that's been happening for a while, then I went to start the car and the slip, abs, vdc lights stayed lit on the dash. I restarted and it went away. Why would pumping the brakes beforehand cause this? My brake fluid is where it should be.

Did you have your ignition in the on position where you were doing it? Somehow it may have sensed a malfunction with the unassisted brake pressure in the lines. I'll see if this occurs whenever I do brakes next.
