I have a 5 speed 1990 Nissan 240sx fastback with approx. 94,000 miles. The reminder chime that you get when your lights are left on/key in ignition is always on when the driver door is open. This happens with the lights off and the key out of the ignition. It's not a real big deal, but just rather annoying.

I would like some pointers on how to solve this. :help

Thanks.

your ignition key in switch is stuck. pull the covers off around the ignition switch/steering colum and unplug the connector.

Check the door sills. Not the door but the body part with the door open. There should be a little rubber boot type thing over a button that'll trigger the light to be on or off. If the boot isn't sitting right it may cause the light to stay on. This is what I've found with my car at least.

I made sure the door open switch was working right. It appears to be as the digging stops and the dome light goes out as well when the door is shut.

As for the ignition, is there anyway to unstick the switch, graphite or something?

If not, I guess I'll just pull the plug as the constant dinging kinda defeats the purpose of a key in the ignition reminder. Also makes it hard to know if you accidentally left your lights on.:dunce
