Hi, I've tried looking for a similar problem in other posts but couldn't find this exact problem.

I have a 99 QX4 and recently had my timing belt, water pump, spark plugs changed. My mechanic took the battery connections off, did the work, re-attached the battery and now I have this problem:

- anytime a door is opened, my headlights and brake lights flash 30 times and I get the clicking noise on the inside. It does not matter if the alarm is on or off, the key is in or out, the car is running or off, or which door is opened to start the flashing.- it also beeps fast with the door open, and key not in the ignition but the second the key is inserted into the ignition it beeps slower and eventually goes off before the lights flashing turns off

Obviously I didn't have any of these problems before repairs were made to my truck. It's a mechanic friend so he doesn't know what's going on and all he did was detach and re-attach the battery so he's confused as well. And of course the dealership said "we'll run a diagnostic check for $90 and it could be 1 hour or 5 hours...depends on the problem."

Any help is appreciated!

to me it sounds like your alarm is going off silently.... does your horn work?? Is your remote control keyless entry locking and unlocking the doors?

I had the exect same work done on my 99 QX4 but never experienced such a problem, nor have I heard of this.

Remote keyless entry is locking and unlocking the doors (which doesn't stop the light blink). I tested the alarm out (panic button) and it went off fine as well.

Possibly your security control module dying. Do you have an aftermarket alarm or is it factory?

I have a factory alarm. Is there a way for me to find out if the control module is dying?

I would re-check the connection on your battery. Look at the cables and make sure that they are fully connected, both the positive and the negative. I recentally cleaned my battery terminals, and my headlights would come on and off whenever the positive cable was on the terminal, but once i had the cable screwed on there tight it went away. I dont think it will fix the problem, but i would re-check the work that was done.
