above is a picture of my matshisuti ballast and the harness for my altima sedan headlights.

I've been on countless HID, retrofit forums searchin on how the wiring is done, and i ended up with nothing but a blank stare and an even more confused look.

Been working on these projectors for some time now and now that weather finally warmer i'm hoping to get these babies done by end of august or so, but i need some help regarding a few terms and wiring.

First off, what does it mean to ground something?

Second, the circled part of the picture with the green and black wire, where and how do i wire that to?

Third, What do i do with the rest of the wires? do the red wire that connected to the relay goes to the battery terminal?

The piece that looks like a plug for an outlet what do i do with that wire? is it plug into something in the car?

Fourth, what do i do with the black wires that are coming from each of the piece that has the black and yellow piece that is on the left side of the picture? is that wire suppose to be grounded? and how if so?

Finally what do i do with that last piece on the top right with the piece of metal that is sticking out that looks like a box, what do i do with that? is it connected to something?

Also how would i wire the CCFL rings? I want it to turn on when i have my parking lights on.

And if phenom87 can shed some light on how to wire those r8 style lights as well that would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me with this, search again and again but all i've came up with is how to do a retrofit, nothing on clearly how to wire the stuff -_-, so i hope there is someone out there that can help me with wiring issues.

Thanks and THANK YOU for any help.

Sounds like you bit off more than you can chew for the moment!

Im not going to attack the whole thread's questions, but one is simple...

A "ground" in your situation is a wire running to any "NON-HOT" screw (non electrified) as a place to dissipate the spent electricity.

Good luck!

yea i did bit off more than i can chew, but only when it comes to wiring he stuff, as for baking the headlights, opening it up, aiming it, making the shrouds fit and what not, i got that down pack lol.

But when it comes to wiring im as lost a lito puppy .

But thanks for clearing up what a ground is, so basically if my thinking is right, i just screw it down to any screw that doesnt have electricity running through it correct?

Honestly, I have never seen a ballast like you have there, as pictured I dont see how that would work with the relay harness. My best guess is you purchased the H11 bulb relay harness obviously, but your ballast isnt h11 by the looks of it.

That being said, the basic theory of a relay harness is to get its power directly from the battery. Thus the red wire is connected to the red terminal on the battery and the small black wire on the closest yellow plug gets connected to the black terminal on the battery. Then that yellow plug that the little black wire comes out of gets plugged into the ballast on the driver side.

Then the plug that's at the end of the long wire covered in plastic gets plugged into the passenger side ballast. You will not need to plug your ballast into the factory harness for the passenger side because now the power is coming directly from the battery. The harness from the driver side will let the lights know when to come off and on(obviously). That little black wire needs to be connected or grounded to a bolt that is attached to the frame. Where my ballast was located and how I wired it, there was a bolt that was inside of the front bumper beams that I was able to get a solid connection to. Just look for any bolt that is connected to the frame, loosen it and then stick the ground wire in and tighten it back up.

That being said, I think that your ballast is not an h11 and your harness appears to be an h11. I could be wrong though.
