The other day my roommate and I set up a switch to where I can turn on my fog lights on my s14 without having to turn on any other lights. Well we hooked it up to the relay in the engine bay and gave the switch the 12V source, but when we turned on the lights to test them the passengerside headlight turned on also. Is there any way to remedy this and make the passenger side headlight not turn on?? Any help would be great!!! :D -Joey

Yeah, umm.. use a different 12v source. (I can't be any more specific because I don't have an s14, nor do I know which relay you used.)

You MUST get a wiring diagram.

Also realize that there are different types of relays:

A relay is always a pair of circuits: The first circuit is controlled by a manual switch, and the second circuit is controlled by a magnetic switch which is actuated by current in the first circuit.

Some relays are designed so that continuity in the second circuit matches the first. But other relays are designed so that continuity in the second circuit is OPPOSITE the first circuit. That is, when you switch the first circuit "on", the magnet switches the second circuit "off", and vise-versa. It depends on the type of relay.

But anyway... no telling what the heck you did without looking at a wiring diagram. I have a feeling that whatever you used for 12v wasn't actually a constant, direct source, but something else instead.

I assume all your grounds go into the car body?
