Post

Guys, I'm new to the forum. Sorry to possibly post and ask a question or two that has been asked a thousand times. I've spent a long time reading, and just haven't seen exactly the right advice.

2011 M37 Sport, black (I just acquired this, traded in my FX)

I've replaced the exterior license plate lights with some white LED's (6000K), and the color looks great. I'm not sure why Infiniti is so late to the game with their lighting designs. I'm an Infiniti loyalist, but I am really disappointed that so many other auto brands are out performing on lighting aesthetics. Maybe the new Q50 is setting the bar higher, and all models will follow.

I also apologize if my questions are from being a rookie.

Here's my question(s):

1) What is a great bulb to use to get a great color of white/blue? I want a 5000K or 6000K look for my front headlights. And I want them to match the fogs. Is this simply a bulb replacement? And is this for a high beam, and low beam? Or is the bulb the same for both?

2) What fog bulb can I use to match the above color of the headlight? I don't want to change the fog to an HID UNLESS I also change the housing to a projection due to the current housing being made for a standard bulb. Can I simply find a bulb to match the above, after I find a good 5000K or 6000K color?

3) If it's best to change to a projection for below, I'll go that route, I can even likely do it myself. (I've read some threads and understand, I've also done JUST enough mods to feel confident in doing this.) BUT, has anyone changed the fog to an HID with projection? Is there a light made to fit perfectly?

4) Has anyone opened their headlights and added daytime running lights/LED's that do NOT use Halo's? I'd love to see pics, and compare to the appearance to the Halos or others I've seen online.

Thanks for any help or advice. Great site for sharing people's love for our M's.

See this link on light colors. http://www.vleds.com/faq
But if you don't want to follow the link it says this:

Cool White
These LEDs have a slight tint of blue to them. They are rated at 6,000-8,000 Kelvin. These bulbs are a great match for most stock and aftermarket HID headlight systems.

Warm White
These LEDs are closer to the color of a standard incandescent bulb. They are rated at 3,000-4.500 Kelvin.

I used 5,000K lights for my fog lights (on my previous Lexus) and they are bright white.

I have the 37s as well running.I did all my interior led 6k.
Got some d2c 6000k Philip bulbs for my headlights .which are hid standard.so all u need is bulb
And got a primo hid kit for fogs to match 6k.
I bought the vme hid kit.comes with built in relay so no flashing or flickering.and waterproof ,dust proof.
One of the best out there and great warranty.
I installed all items in same day last February.all working perfectly.
Knock on wood.
Both headlights and fogs match perfectly.not crazy blue, but super white
I also changed the driving lights to led 6k instead of the dull yellow.looks great

My two cents: if your going to change the fog lights bulbs and do all the work.might as well put hid kit in there.its worth it!

Thanks for that run down. When you installed the HID for fogs, doesn't it glare a ton and shine too high? That's what i have read people warning about. Or did you install an entire kit that included the ballast, and light/lens? Meaning, do your fogs have a new lens to filter the light or is it the same housing?
