Since one of the main functions of a flywheel is to "smooth out" torque pulses given off by the engine to the transmission into one smooth torque flow, wouldn't a lightened flywheel make a car's engine feel more "bumpy" or make the car run less smoothly since there's less mass dampening the torque pulses?

Just a thought.

Nick.

I dont know about smoothing "torque pulses" or whatever, but after putting on my underdrive pulley and JUN flyhweel, gear lash from an old transmision can become a problem when the gears are not under a decent load (IE accelerating or decellerating) and cause an odd "wobble" noise.

just thought you'd like to know.-chet
