While it is interesting that there appears to be a similar to the VH45DE Y coolant passage configuration at the rear of the block on the BMW

At least those guides look more heavy duty than the Q ones. Why do they keep on using plastic?

Because the legal life of an engine is 100,000 miles, which should be more than enough if you drive in Europe or Japan or China or South America.

Why would any new car buyer care, and used buyers [as a group] never research things like engine internals.

Some how these things never seem to affect resell very much as engine replacement is expected when you buy a old used EXOTIC BMW ..............these extreme rpm [8500 redline] high strung versions don't last vs the mundane V8.
