Hi I'm going to upgrade to xenon lights on my G35 sedan 03 and im trying to tell what types of bulbs are on my car, how do you tell weather you have HID or Halogen bulbs, I bought the car used and they bulbs have been on the car a long time so I can't tell what types they are by brightness. How do I tell without removing the bulbs how can i check what bulbs are on my car.

Check your manual. Or do a search within the G35 forum. But the easiest way to upgrade is just buying the whole lens assembly from an 06 (I think that was the first year with HIDs, but I could be wrong).

Are you talking about just the HIDs or the projector lenses? The projectors started the 06 I believe...that's what I was getting at. Someone will let you know for sure.

thanks and just to make sure others know i did search and i couldn't find out. i bought the car used so i don't have any info on the type of light or the package the guy might have or might have not gotten so i need to find out if i have HID or halogen bulbs without taking the bulbs out. is their some type of visual test. my car is the earlier 03 model.

sorry thanks for all your help, but again I'm just trying to figure out if i have halogen or HIDs. if I have HIDs i will just get new (xenon) bulbs, if i have Halogens i would but the conversion kit. So my question is can I, without taking the bulb out, find out what type of bulb i have in my car? that way i can figure out weather or not it is a halogen and HID and than purchase the appropriate bulb (xenon or a xenon HID conversion kit) thank you.

So is there a difference in the light/color that would be noticeable in these older bulbs? or some kind of mechanical hardware that i could see without dismantling the light casing (i just need the bulb not the 06 light casing) thank you. What about just basic bulb ID that i could see and you guys could point me in the right direction.

Thank you for all your help PS: are the Phillips HID xenon conversion kit from xenon pros a good upgrade.

instructions:

1. turn headlights on2. walk to front of car and look at headlights3. determine color of light4. decided whether you have hids or not

hids are a bright white, and normal bulbs are like a dull yellow

14k bulbs!? Are you insane that is illegally 10K is still not legal, you probably won't get caught but it will sure blind most drivers!

Infiniti have stock HID bulb of 4500K and 8K is the best way to go!

you realize your lights will be bright pink right?

Like this...

4300k-4500k produces the most lumens (light output, i.e. see the best) and is a bright white color.

8000k is more of a blue.

12k is purple.

why dont you just look at the bulb? i think that would be much easier. also its easy tell by just looking at them on? also HID will have a ballast and stuff
