I don't have an alarm system on mine. And yes the light blinks all the time. It's no big deal - and like iluv says it's just a theft deterrant more than anything...it's a dummy lightplamenbelchev wrote:I have a new 2009 Versa, since last day the Security indicator light is blinking and doesn't go off, I don't have an intelligent key, so I checked the manuas and it said that it goes on when the ignition swithc is in the LOCK, OFF or ACC positions. Well the key is not even in, and it still blinks. What should I do?
Are you sure about that? A few people here have made a copy of their keys with those switchblade style all-in-one remote FOBs you can find off ebay and they can drive the car with it.Versa357 wrote:It's suppose to do that. It's part of the security feature, where you have to have the proper chipped key to start the car. Even though you dont have intelligent key there is still a chip in your key.I dont know how the versa is but on my f150 if i used a blank key to start it the light would stay on and the truck would shut off after 30 seconds if it didnt detect the chip. You could only do this 3 times then the computer wouldn't let it start again untill it was reset at the dealership.
Yes they have done that, but they have had to get the chip removed from the original key. I just asked one of the members here that has a Tiida from Brazil. He said he took the key to a locksmith, they heated up the key enough to remove the chip, then inserted it inside the key fob.Shad0wXCalibur wrote:

Had no idea on that. I wasn't told that when I got my Versa. I'm using the spare now because the cheap plastic that holds onto a key ring brokeiluvmyVersa08 wrote:

Even the dealer explained to me when I picked up my Versa that the car will only start with the two keys provided. One of the set of keys has a tag attached to it with a number on it. That number will help them make a copy if you lose your keys. That is why I keep the tag in a file with my Versa stuff, just incase both keys are misplaced, I have the tag to get a replacement key w/ chip made!
