light behind ac/heating unit wont come on

hey this is a question regarding the light behind the ac unit on my 92 240sx. yes, its got a aftermarket cd player, but its been in there since ive had my car, which is a bout a year now. i have seen the light in question come on maybe once or twice. its a real ***** not having it on at night, and i would like it to come on. how do i fix this? i tried taking the entire unit out the other day, but i didnt want to take out my cd player because im thinking that theres a screw that holds the cd player in there with a nut behind it, and i didnt want to lose the nut.

and for another quick question: on cold starts at night, my headlights will come on when prompted, but then my speedometer, hud, and the lights in there wont come on sometimes for 10 mintues sometimes longer, but theyve always come on in due time. any idea why? just cold starts?

I have the same problem with my 95. Its just the light behind heater control, but the dimmer switch doesn't work either so....
