liftgate relacement
Postby David01 » Tue Jun 26, 2018 12:54 am

I have a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder SE. Recently I damaged the liftgate when backing into the gate to my driveway. I bought a used liftgate of a like kind vehicle. My question is do I wire the replacement liftgate wiring to the vehicle or use the current vehicle liftgate wiring harness connecting it to the replacement liftgate? If I use the replacement liftgate wiring how do I access that area on the driver side c pillar to be able to plug it in? I do not know how to access the area in the headliner. Not sure which trim panels to remove or how to remove them in order to plug in the wiring harness on the replacement liftgate to my car. I hope I was clear :-)

any help will be great

Disclaimer, I'm not an expert on Pathfinders, but I've been wrenching a long time.

My rule of thumb on things like that is to look for a plug. If I can unplug it I do. If I can't unplug it I fish the old harness out and snake it back in the new part. I avoid cutting wires if at all possible. Having an old and a new part makes exploration less risky, if you break something, make sure it's the one you don't need. At worst use it to learn how to remove it without breaking it.

I agree with Mike W. Somewhere there's a plug.
