Hello everyone,

A friend of mine just bought a used 2007 Murano SL. The only problem it has is that the liftgate won't open when you press the back door opener switch.

The only way to open it is by using the emergency lever from the inside. All the other locks and doors work perfectly except for this one.

We tried replacing the actuator lock with a new one, but that didn't solve the problem. We also checked the fuses and they're okay.

I have search on this site and on the web for possible solutions, but I haven't found one so far. Any ideas on what could it be? Have any of you heard of the back door opener switch causing problems on the Murano?

Thanks in advance

What does the dealer say?

If you don't want to go there then see if you can fix it yourself by looking at the service manual: Nicoclub.com/FSM

I don't know if your friend has solved the problem, or if my problem is even the same one, but my 2004 had issues like that.
Mine is manual, though.... meaning i can only open it w/ the lever on the outside.
I had to take the small, rectangular cover that exposes the latch mechanism off the inside of the lift gate and spray a lubricant (WD40) inside to loosen the old grease, which had become a stiff, unyielding mess.
It took awhile to work, but after about 24 hours, to my surprise, my liftgate worked just fine and no problems since.

Just have your friend take it back to whom he bought it from and have them fix it. Simple.
