heres my problem. i got a 89 ka24e and the lifters are ticking again and it leaks oil. i changed the oil out about 700 miles ago and the ticking went away. couple days ago the valve cover bolt treads stripped and started to leak oil. i fixed that and then the ticking came. i put in a quart of 5 30w oil and the ticking is still there. its driving me crazy. wat can i do to stop the ticking for good?

One option is solid rocker conversion. Theres only a few people that make them...for some reason I am think deviouska does.

The other option is to do what Im doing and say screw it and do something different. (Im building a hybrid KA) Nissan always has had and prob always will have junk lifters. The lifters being made into the rockers in the KAE REALLY sux. Atleast if they were replaceable like the Maximas it wouldnt be AS bad.

i found out y it was ticking. the oil leak on my engine just straved the lifters of oil and causing it to tick. just gotta fix that leak now.

I had the same problem on my 89 KAE as well. I just threw my timing and bent my valves so the valves and lifters are being fixed right now. The lifter noise usually went away for about 1500 miles give or take after each oil change but came back after that.

I wasnt leaking oil although while removing the valve cover im pretty sure i stripped the bolts this time so i guess i will be lol. Anyway i hope fixing the leak helps but it wasnt the problem for me.

Keep the oil at mid level for best results with the stock lifters. I cant even count how many times single cams have come into the shop with ticking lifters, being a quart over full. Sure i could sell them all kinds of things from performance conversions to new engines, but usually I just change their oil properly and send them on their way with quiet ka24e.

see, i have the same problem, but when i am drifting hardcore only. also, it is reconmended to change the valve stem oil seals, and thats wat i need to do next to stop some of the burning oil that gets into the pistons. and keep it from not having enought oil to get to the lifters. and also need a new turbo, cuz mine is bad from the oil seals.

i had the same problem last week and i bought some cd2 valve solution from Kragen and i let my car run for about 20 mins and the lifters stopped ticking and i have drove the car all week and never had the noise come back again. i talked to my mechanic about it and he told me that a lot of his customers had the same problem and he just tells them to put the right amount of oil in every 2-3000 miles and if you want then just add that cd2 stuff and you're good to go. the best price i got on 12 new rocker arms was 8 rocker arms on ebay for $120 shipped and another 4 from courtesy parts for $100 plus shipping and then another $100 or more to install from my mechanic. it could be a pita!

Holy dead thread, but I didn't want to start a new one. Anyone else heard of this cd2 stuff? I've got the ticking lifters problem and think it'll help.

where can I find it?
