Why don't you just have yours rebuilt? I have have it done for $80 + shipping. They look brand new.

Because, nothing against float6969, but who exactly rebuilds these lifters? Is it Bob down the street that does it in his kitchen sink, or is it a reputable shop?

Are new springs installed in the lifters? I cant see 80 beans covering a full in depth rebuild of these things.

And in all honesty, Id like to keep them in their respective bores, and after a rebuild, im not sure how feasible that is.

It's a shop that does nothing but rebuild lifters. That's all they do.

I don't know exactly what they do to be honest, but from what I've seen (I've got a set in my car now) they look new.

Get a caliper and measure the difference in diameters of the lifter and the bore they set in for all of the lifters. I'll bet you'll be suprised at the results...

LOL, that is true, and the whole reason for getting the lifters rebuilt was because I thought it was a problem with the lifters. After getting them rebuilt it helped a lot, but didn't fix it. I started doing some investigating and found that I have 2 pretty major oil leaks in the oil galley's feeding the head. (I saw the oil leak previously, but I thought it was coming from the valve cover gasekt so I never paid much attention to it) It also doesn't make any noise when the oil is cold. This is because the oil is thick enough that it won't push past the leaks very much and the oil pressure in the head stays up. So the problem with the lifters is a lack of oil pressure in the head in my particular instance.

One leak is at the HG on the exhaust side at the back. It leaks bad enough to actually squirt some oil onto the exhaust. The other is in the same galley, but in an exhaust bolt hole that I drilled out.

BTW, if anybody ever strips out the exhaust bolt on the top rear of the 4th cylnder, DON'T drill, tap, and helicoil it. It's RIGHT next to the oil feed for the head and when you drill it out to helicoil it, it punches a hole in the galley and you can leak oil profusely.

I tried RTV, but it blew it out. If I JB weld it, i'll never get the manifold back off (it's a bolt, not a stud).
