I have a very annoying ticking coming from my engine bay and I'm trying to decide if it is my timing chain guide or ticking lifters so I turn to my venerable SR associates for a lead. Here's a vid of the problem (Sorry for the crappy video):

Thanks for any input.

The audio qaulity is really crap no offense. I have some questions for you. Does it only happen at a certain RPM or does it only happen on throttle snap. Is it constant. Does it happen when the motor is cold or when it is hot or does it not matter? Next I would take a wooden dowel or screwdriver or a mechanics stethascope and listen to the timing chain portion of the valve cover then to the valvetrain. Is the noise more apparent in the front of the head or over one bank intake or exhaust. depending on the answer to that question remove the valve cover and find out if you still have that pesky timing chain guide. If so I would recommend removing it or if you are uncomfortible with that operation have someone who is comfortible with it remove it

Some noise is there all the time. Sometimes it's louder than others but it is there cold, hot, 1 RPM, 6000 RPMs. The timing chain guide is likely still there though. I can remove it if need be. I'd just like to nail it down and fix it once and for all.

listen to the head with a tool to narrow down the noise. snap the throttle while listening to it, listen to it when it is hot and cold. this will help you accurately diagnose it the first time.

check your injectors...my s13 and s15 both make ticking noises and both are the injectors...just kinda listen and feel on the injectors...if they go with the rhythm of the tick then it very well could be them

You are a genius or a goddamn psychic. I checked the injectors and it's perfectly on rhythm with the tapping. I didn't know they could be so goddamn loud. Looks like a need a new set.

I wouldn't go out and buy new injectors just because they are loud. It's been known that Nissan's have loud injectors. My 95' V6 HB pickup does the same as the SR and KA did loud azz ticking from injectors.

True but in order to utilize my GT28R I'll need to up the injectors anyway.

I beg to differ. My injectors used to be quiet.
