Its time to conquer the timing chain job this weekend, and I'll be putting in a new oil pump also. My concern is this......as time has gone on I've aquired the timing chain noise and have read all about the guides and tensioner problems, thus it makes sense to me to just do the chain kit and oil pump because this engine is in really great shape, doesnt burn oil, really sound, etc. What I have come across though is that there seems to be a lifter/valve tap that is intermittent, comes and goes. I used to have an 84 supra that had the same issues, but it was cause by a restricted oil pressure regulator, oil would get coked up and restrict oil flow. I replaced that and it never tapped since. My 240 has the same "sound" but obviously comparing apples to oranges since they're completely different engines. Does 240 lifters leak down and cause them to "tap", and can they be replaced? I understand they're hydraulic, and non adjustable. I was planning to replacee them if Im this deep into this job. Any ideas, and who supplies these besides the dealer? Thanks, Des
