i have a possible stuck lifter.

just had a fresh rebuild, car did its first 20min idle fine. after the first 20miles i started it up and had a ticking noise. sounded like coming from the rear top. figured it was a lifter. revved it up to around 3k and the noise went away. after that, took it down the street and it started again. havent really played with it to much, just been reading up info on here.

anyways, wanted to double check if anyone has replaced theirs.

is this the part #?:

RB25DET Hydraulic lifterUSDM OEM Part # 13231-79S00

and eh? said something about bleeding the lifter, any more info?. im gonna play with the car today some more, but i dont know to much on this subject. any tips or tricks would help, thanks

figured so. well i paid a lil over 2gs for it. so ill hook u up and sell it to you for 1900

on topic. finally read the fsm. guess to bleed it, u just push down on it, then let the car idle at 1000rpm for 10min.

just wanna double check on that part number though. looked it up as one for a VG, so hoping they do work if anyones tried it

o_o

anyways, let her warm all the way up. noise went way down to prob near gone. guess i read on the aussie boards about some lifter cleaning oil ill try to look for. also gonna try some lighter oil

been reading back and fourth between going to heavy oil vs lighter. i have heavy in it now and its way loud, and when the oil finally warms up it goes away. so maybe lighter?

rb25 lifters are not like sr lifters. sr lifters you can use thin rod to compress the spring inside... while submersed in oil this will squeeze out the air in the lifter and fill it with oil. The RB lifter has a small hole on top also, but it is too small and would be difficult to find a strong enough rod to squeeze the lifter.

As of yet I have not found a way to bleed them other than installing them and running the motor. i always run light weight oil such as 5w30 to start up and rb or sr thats been sitting for awhile. It helps to get all the lifters bled. Then once all the clacking goes away I swap in some 10w40 or 15w50...

kray, look up piston slap.

forged pistons can be noisy. might want to consider that too.
