Well i was having a tough time with tapping on the head, took the VC off and found the first lifter totally emphy, moved freely up and down

Dissasmbled the lifters as per the article above, took the clip off, fill with oil, press the check valve to replace air inside with oil, now the lifter is hard as a rock, just like all the other ones.

Now i got one problem, when putting them all together i CANT put the fking clip back.... since the lifter no longer has air etc, i cant compress it, and now the lifter actually blocks the clip`s groove, i cant put the clip in the groove.

I dont know HOW in the world did the article creator put the clips back in the groove, but he doesnt mention it.

Has anyone done this repair? Im thinking about putting the lifter on the rockers without the clip, since the lifter is always zero clearance with the valve top i guess it wont pop out at any time.

Anyone knows info about this?

All I did was collapse all my lifters before I re-assembled. It took about 50 miles for them to quiet down, but they eventually did. You may have a problem with oil pressure making it into the lifter if it still won't pump up.I certainly do not recommend running the rocker without the lifter clipped in.
