I'm installing new cams and I would like to refurbish the old (70k miles) lifters. I wet sanded one on a piece of glass surface at 1500 then 2500 grit. I can get it perfect except one ring about 1/6" from the outside. I would be wet sanding forever to get it out even though it's barely there. What are my options other then spending big bucks on new ones. Do machine shops do this? Will that outer ring hurt the new cams? School me. Thanks!

VG30E(T) right? They aren't too expensive from Courtesy, right over 200 for 12 new ones: http://www.courtesyparts.com/b....html

I bet most guys don't replace them with new cams though. They aren't a very common issue with these engines so aren't often replaced. If you do want to try cleaning them up though (maybe taking it to a machinist) I would check the FSM for minimum measurements so too much isn't taken off.
