I completely agree and what I find most comical is the amount of money some people put into the car, most of it unnecessary and impractical. I often wonder if it's seen as an investment (like a home, property or the stock market) as opposed to a slowly deteriorating value. It would seem that satisfying the ego can get expensive for most of us.Sentientbydesign wrote:You guys are comical.
Maybe I'm just blessed, but I would never pay over $200/tire. Nor would I pay over $15/tire to get them mounted and balanced.
I got used Michellins up front with over 70% tread for the fronts for $100 (thank God). And I got Ventus Sports K104s on the rear with about the same if not more tread for $111 in the rear.
Total of $211 for 4 very good used tires mounted, balanced, including tax, and disposal.
The Big Guy up stairs must love me a whole lot.
I agree. I have to chuckle at some of the posts about how much money is being wasted on G's but then again what do I know? I'm just one of the old farhts here. After researching tires & doing my due diligence I decided to go with the dealer price. OEM Bridgestone Turanza 235-45-18. $1280 installed including a $20 oil change charge to begin the oil consumption test. They are giving me back 1/2 the cost of one tire since they now have a March promotion of buy 3 tires & get the 4th for $1.00BTW I flunked the oil consumption test. I used 12mm of oil as measured on the dipstick. I needed to use 18mm to qualify for a full long block replacement engine. Oh wellW661335PF wrote:

Now I'm not saying everyone should buy Goodyear Eagles F1's or Michelin PS2's (these are two of the best tires you can buy...and you'll pay for it!). I'm saying that don't treat tires like an air freshener and get the cheapest "deal" you can find. I read up on Toyo's and they had many customers who highly recommended the tires.
As far as dumping money into a depreciating investment...my answer is that it NOT an investment in the first place. If we all wanted to be sensible we would have bought the most fuel efficient econo-box in the market, giving no regard to style, power, handling or anything else the G35 is known for.
This comment is screaming FETISH- FETISH-FETISH! Your money maybe should be spent seeing someone professionally.Jacko3 wrote:Telcoman:
