Life Really is too Short

I just got some grave news about one of my best friends.

I met Pete over at EvolutionM.net a year ago, and as we all know, post whores generally become really good friends. Even though Pete lived in Australia, we would chat and trade stories all the time. I honestly considered him to be like a brother to me.

This morning, his away message was put up by his friend Eon saying that he was sorry to say, but pete had passed away. The message sounded kind of hokey, so I had brushed it off as one of his jokes. A very distasteful joke. But curiosity got the better of me and I dropped an IM asking someone to email me what was going on.

Eon emailed me back a few hours ago telling me that Pete had rolled his car into a tree and the accident was fatal.

This isn't the first time I've lost someone who was close to me, but it never gets easier. Never. Pete was by far one of the best people I have ever known.

Nobody on NICO knew Pete, and I'm not trying to get a bunch of condolences. I just want people to be careful and to know that accidents can happen at any time. Please please please be careful.

it does suck. he was one of the most loved posters at EvoM. We're putting a webpage together in memory of him.

it is indeed too short, I never like hearing news like this and I'm damn sure not alone.

all I can say is I hope it was quick and painless and that I too may pass doing something I love.

Here's to him holding a racing queen in Victory Lane and saving us a spot when we get there.

the amazing part about life is how quickly you go through emotions.

i was settling down for bed when I got a call on my cell from another EvoM member. Turns out Eon was playing a HUGE prank and me being the gullible *** I am, fell for it all. Pete's not dead, he was just drunk and passed out, and while he was passed out, his roomie, Eon, changed his away message. Son of a B1tch!

to add that life is short, i know for a fact it is too. about a week or two ago a fellow high school graduate of '03 passed away. i didnt know her very well, but friends of friends knew and word passed around quickly. she had something like mengitis (sp?). she passed 4.20, and the funeral was 4.30... its sad/scary to know someone my age 18-19 passed away just like that. sick one day... gone the next... its like whoa...

Dude I know exactly what you must have felt like, I don't know what I'd do it anything happened to my friend Jack (racinda240 here on nico), I mean he's like a brother to me. Him, Blake, and Zach have to be the people I feel closest to.

i was probably the best candidate to hit because i take death very seriously. i had a girlfriend a few years ago who died from an infection caused by a ruptured ovarian cyst, so i tend not to joke around with death. i'm very ashamed i fell for this prank...
