Brought to you (via me, and a yellow slip of paper) by the Peachtree City Police Department.

Yep, I got a ticket... first one. 15 over 45. Kinda pissed. I was in a good mood, a really good mood. Anyways, a couple notable things:

1. I saw the same cop get someone in the same place while I was heading the opposite direction. Go me, I get the retard cookie.

2. I came up a hill, and accelerated, seeing as the SR20DE makes puny torque. Then the hill apexs and comes back down. I let off the gas as it comes down and turns left, but alas, you don't lose speed that fast when you're going downhill in 5th. Thus, he got me on the hill, by the time he flipped his lights I was doing 55 and slowing. That, my friends, sucks.

3. As he was explaining the ticket (good God, I knew exactly what it said, why'd he have to remind me?) he says "hang on a second" or something the like and turns his head, hawks a nice one onto the street, then turns back to finish explaining. Is it just me, or is that a bit unprofessional?

4. GA is annoying. 1mph less and I wouldn't have to go to court, but since I'm under 18 (17), I have to be in court at 1pm on Aug. 18. The 18th is, yes, a Wednesday afternoon. I have to go to court during school. I have to miss school (excused absence, lol) to go to court. Retarded? Yes.

5. I was on a 2 lane highway (1 each way). It was sunny, dry, with low traffic (considering it was 4:30 in the afternoon). Why is the speed limit on a highway 45? That area is just after a light in both directions with only two turn offs, one to a hardware store a couple small shops, one to the Police office. Why is the limit 45? For the life of me, I don't understand my town...

I'll probably have something to add later, but that's my story for now.

That sucks, but it happens. Just pay it and go to traffic school to get it off your record.

Yes. Sounds like my first ticket. 65 in a 45.

You'll be alright, they'll yell at you, and send you to traffic school. A few months on probation, and that ticket will be wiped from your record. Done.

Sort of. GA is weird, remember?

I'll get 2 points... maybe 3 if the judge finds me ugly (max is 4 before they pull your license).

Paying it really isn't that bad of an issue, I made a ton of money being a lifeguard, and even after buying my exhaust (lol, finished that transaction last night), I'll have nearly $1g by the time the pool closes (Sept. 6). Thus, I'll have plenty of cash for the ticket (how much you think it'll be?) and to pay for life for the school year.

Not sure about traffic school... I'm gonna ask around to see what judges around here do, I'll do it for sure if it lowers the fine, especially if it also keeps my insurance from going nuts (though, a Sentra is dirt cheap to insure, so it shan't be too bad).

If figure, tickets are a part of life, so now it won't scare me quite so bad when I get another (oh, and I will, but hopefully not for a few years... at least not til I'm 18... cause then they'd pull my license, THAT would suck).

My dad doesn't seem too mad... he kinda did the whole "SIXTY IN A FORTY FIVE!" thing, but just said "that'll be expensive." So I'm hoping that I'm not grounded for too long.

Oh, and I assume "Oh ****..." is the natural reaction to hearing that wonderful "weerrrwoooo," right?

Why would you Dad ground you? My dad figured the fine was punishment enough.

Good luck man.

Reminds me of a King of the Hill episode where Chris Rock ran a driving school.

To get the point across even further. Though I think $200 is a pretty good point... but maybe that's just me.

i<3drifting- Yeah man. This was on 74. You know where it (coming from the Avenues) goes uphill, then curves down and to the left? He got me on the left-curved hill. I'm a bit pissed right now... just cause the guy was pacing that street getting people... later, in Fayetteville, I saw this guy without a seatbelt on reaching around for **** in his car, they ought to bust people like that over someone taking advantage of a good mood and GREAT driving conditions. (There's basically 0 crime, for those who don't know, in this area... cept maybe drugs... but kids around here are clever about those, thus, they ought to bust real idiots rather than happy drivers, IMO...)

Yup. See, my trunk got pwned 4 weeks ago, week after that my dad backed into the yard and got stuck, had a nice tire-smoking, clutch-burning adventure with my brother's A4 1.8T pulling him out, then it skipped a week, and suddenly, BAM, I get pwned by the PTC Po Po...

Oh man... That's a bummer of a story. I feel for you. BUT on a positive note, I just won in court again on two traffic violations. Well, this time it didn't actually go to trial, the officer was in an EXTREMEMLY good mood and dropped both the charges.

I was busted for failure to show proof of insurance and expired registration. $280 worth of fines dropped because I was polite and cool with him today at the court house! I also had my proof of insurance with me, and proof that I registered the day after I was ticketed. So, he was satisfied and didn't see any need to make his point with further punishment. Cops CAN be cool... you just gotta play THEIR game sometimes.

Ahaha! See, he asked for my license and registration... well retarded me has it at basically the bottom of his glovebox, and thus I can't find it for a while, but I hand him proof of insurance while I'm at it. So he has license and insurance and leaves, before I dig out the registration. He comes back with the ticket without having seen the registration... thought that was kinda weird... I showed it to him when he came back though...

phanesoul...42 over! in GA they can arrest you on the spot for that!

ntn, Iron a dress shirt, throw on a tie, and go to court. Be polite and try to impress the judge. The judge can drop, reduce, or suspend your fine. Worst case, you still have to pay the full amount. If I get a ticket, I always go to court based on the chance I might have to pay less. I'm guessing the ticket would be $100-150. (GA doesnt have driving school. At least, Ive never had to go!)IIRC, if youre under 18 and get stopped for 25 over or higher, they can take you to jail. I forget what the limit is for older drivers (but 42 over, he's lucky if he got to go home that night). You gotta understand, its PTC. The cops dont have anything to do. Well heres my story... first speeding ticket was a cheap cop trick. I got followed home and After a mile he turned his lights on and i was like oh god... a cop. I was basicly tracking it through some back streets i knew REAL well and i almost lost him but after i was a couple hundred feet away and about to take off and loose him he turned on his lights. I got a 30 over, running a stop sign and out after curfew. I was 17, i get my license back after six months this upcoming tuesday... i got 6 months no license, $125 fine, and 20 hourse CS. Ive definatly learned from that... dont slow down for that stop sign just hit boost and go ;).

PTC cops have a rep, as you can see.

From my experience as a debater for my high school, I'm used to dress clothes and being totally fake (ie, nice)... I was nicer to that cop than I've been to anyone in my life... still got pwned... oh well, the judge will see the same (if not more) niceness.

Mine was a bit cheap too... well... rather... I see it as a frivolous ticket, there was no one for a good 10 car lengths in either direction of me, clear, sunny, dry... no danger at all... See, I accellerated up that hill, then coasted down it, I don't ride my brakes, so I got a ticket for 15 over, rather than 10 or so I'd been doing... there was also a 55 zone literally ~200ft from where he gunned me... LAME... I sat there in a 55 zone and got a ticket for 60 in a 45... I'm just kinda annoyed that he took the time to nail me for something as simple as going a little fast rather than find someone being a retard... there's enough underage smoking (including weed), drinking, etc around here to keep a cop busy for quite a while.

edit: Oh, and I kinda lack boost... so even in the occurence that I do get followed (relatively common), I can't hit boost and disappear... stupid American market... WE DESERVE SR20DETs too!

My ticket for 21 over (66 in a 45) was $250 thankfully they dropped it down to 19 over so it won't show on insurance.

First ticket was 61 in a 45.Busy messing with my radio and going same speed as the car beside me. Cop pulls me over and comes with his gun drawn. Accused me of street racing and etc. He NEVER clocked me on radar said he paced me at 61mph for a mile and accused me of street racing. $143 3 points. Another Prick cop gave me a ticket for nothing said i was goign 46 when i was going 36 and then he wrote 47 on the ticket and I asked him about and he put his hand on his gun and said don't worry about it $78 3points This is the same cop that wrote over 200 tickets to students AND teachers at my school Time he gave me the ticket he had 6 cars lined up behind me. Next was an 82 in a 60. On I-95 Chesterfield,VA I was lost trying to read road signs and he nailed me when there was cars flying past me. Still tryign to figure out what I have to do about the ticket.

Florida240sx: Go to Court and tell exactly what happened.Be presentable.

If you are even partially believed, judge will likely reduce.Or maybe the cop remembers his unprofessional behavior, not wanting to be embarrssed he might not show up.

had 3 tickets went to court twice as no contest so got no points and then took traffic school for 3rd one and now trying to figure out this 4th ticket. Still got 2 months to deal with it. it's 6 days before my B-day Going to suck if they try to take my license. Because I'll be out of state and can't do much when you don't know any1.

That's unfortunate. I've saved well over $1000 I'm sure. These last two tickets were $280... and I've won 4 other times for speeding and operating after suspension. The operating after suspension charge not only carries a HEAVY fine... but possible jail time as well. If I KNOW I'm guilty... I don't contest tickets... but if there is ANY chance of getting off... I will fight every time... even if I think I might have been guilty.

I enjoy being in court for little crap like traffic violations. It is a chance to exercise your rights and test your will in front of a judge and the officer who wrecked your day. I haven't lost one yet... that's a pretty good feeling.:D

I think I might go up there to fight the ticket. Because 1 the cop won't show thinking he's a kid from Florida 900miles away and 2nd if he is then the judge will think the cop is lieing or at least go easy on me being I drove 900miles don't you think? It was a state trooper though and I was out of state so I didn't start arguing with him then.

Haha, welcome back Alex. I tried to respond to your email a couple times, but it returned the mail to me... maybe military school doesn't like getting mail from Hotmail?

Yeah, it sucks, but it's part of life. I know it's not the last ticket I'll get.

'98 240 should be fun man... mileage? 5spd, I assume? I smell KA24DET... (suspension first though)

edit: Just read mileage... holy ****!

Take the traffic school course and get the ticket wiped from your record. Go to court and see how the other half lives. It's an eye opener. Dress smartly and be defferential to the authorities.

I took a traffic school course and while it has an insurance industry slant, there are certain concepts you can learn researched by real experts that can give you a heads up regarding many aspects of vehicular traffic.

The best thing I got from it was the general overview that there are an astounding amount of drivers on the roads who are completely ignorant and who all commit the same mistakes over and over and over....

phanesoul...why don't you have a lawyer yet? A cop pulled me over after following me for 4 miles with the bright lights on and cuffed me for reckless driving...I sped up fast in my RX7 because I thought it was some drunk who couldn't see. I was wearing a suit and told him why I sped up...he uncuffed me but told me he was going to take my license in court and let me go with a 3-part ticket. When I got off work I paid $750 for a lawyer because he could have taken my license because of a years probation for the Tennessee point system. Lawyer handled everything and all charges were dismissed...fuuck that biitch!! The lawyer gave me a few pointers on how to keep getting tickets dismissed and never turned in to the State. If you go to court (in Tennessee anyway) and the judge doesn't know you or forgot what your face looked like..haha..he has to offer you the driving school if he doesn't then request it. There are no paper trails to keep up with everyone who had a dismissed ticket, they do not research prior driving school before court, and have no information to tell them you have previously taken a course while standing before the judge. A District State Trooper from Nashville told me the court has to offer it and if they don't to contact a Trooper's office and ask to speak to the supervising trooper or director. Apparently the scheme is supposed to lower the insurance costs over a period of years.I think Tennessee has a 12-point system and 1yrs probation for going over it and after that they can take your license.

Pay for the lawyer..it will be cheaper in the long run in regards to insurance and especially when you have to pay to get your license reinstated.

My driving record is clean and pay cheaper insurance by using the driving school scheme!!
