I have a 95' J30 with 137K on it. At 100K I had timing belt, accesory belts, etc replaced. I do not want to be in the same siutation as my buddy matt169 (J30, 267K miles), who bye the way lost his J30 after all the seals blew out, probably due to the PCV valve. I want my car to last as long, but I am not looking for racing type optimum performance. I am 80% interstate driving, 20% city. Do you guys have any suggestions? What work could I do at home to keep cost down & what should be professionaly done?

You can do a search on J30, but personally I recommend reading all previous posts by Q45tech. That's correct, all posts.

Your car will thank you no matter who makes it or what model it is.

Isn't it strange how all mechanical systems need the same care and feeding, regardless of the brand of vehicle.

All manufacturers know the same secrets, as the patents are studied by all and each innovation gets widely distributed in a matter of months. How fast they act to avail themselves of discoveries is variable.

Fluid/filter changes are the key and no magic elixar can make up for abuse. Nothing will reverse mechanical damage or stress.

Used car buyers are totally at the mercy of previous owners, the trick is to buy used before too much damage is done.

Or find a friend who will let you pay for his EXTRA mainteance then sell you his car - 3 years later...............pretty radical idea.

1.) Why I overpay for a low mileage car that has verifiable maintenace and is in good conditon. Whether this is economic or not remains to be seen. But it does save me time I don't have for massive restoration.

2.) I have thought of this with regard to a couple of friend's who have 2002 F50 Q45 Premium on lease, but don't maintain them to our standards with fluid and lubricant changes. Just doesn't seem like I'll be ready to surrender a G50 when the F50 are off lease.

As an additional note, purchased all three Q45 with under 60K, although the high mileage one (purchased at 54k, now at 57K) had the 60K service done at 52K. Just dropped a grand on it for brakes, upper links, PS and transmission flush, transmission cooler. Last to get the Envirolution flush next month when I return to Texas. Best deal was the 2000 which included 7year/100,000 mile warranty since it was below 50K miles and still under OEM warranty.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45
