Hi. I bought an '05 G35 Coupe ... I got my license plate for the rear and have been trying to put it on. It seems that the screw stops going in (just completely locks) after about 2 - 2.5 turns. I am wondering if this is normal (which I doubt), or has the screws been changed by the previous owner/dealership.

Also, could some one please tell me the size and length of these screws for the rear license plate ... I can just go to the hardware store and pick up a couple if I knew the factory size and length. And yes, the little clips that accept the screw are attached to the bumper, so I doubt I need to get those.

Thanks in advance for the help. I searched the forums for a while, and I haven't seen any mention of rear license plate screw sizes.

easiest way to do it which is the way i did it. just pull one of the clips off of the bumper and go into a hardware store and try your luck lol. it doesnt need to be very long just enough to thread into the fitting after the plate frame/plate itself

Jeesh ... I never thought about taking the frappin' clips off. It was storming all day here in Houston today, I'll try it out tomorrow afternoon. Hmmm ... if the threads on the clip are stripped (which is what I suspect) ... I suppose I can simply replace them with any matching clip from the hardware store, eh?

If you hold the plastic clip the screw goes into just enough to hold the plate in postion you can do the same with the other side. Now you do have to have some dexterity doing this but I have been able to get it to work for me. Also make sure the clip is inline with the hole on the facia. It will be easy to cross thread the screw on the clip if it gets caught on the facia.

Thanks everyone. The threads on both clips were stripped ... I guess whoever had the car before me had a little trouble with it :P

Anyways ... I picked up some new clips from the auto parts store aroung the corner and all is well :D
