I was wondering what are you guys using for front LP.

I hate having front plate but I must because IL requires one. I found this but kinda pricey...http://swiftmotorsports.com/index.php?m ... ts_id=1837

and the cheaper version...

Any ideas for a bracket that does not involve drilling the bumper?

Can you put it on the dash? Works for MD since the law is "visible from 20ft"

This was going to be my next mod but I haven't seen the size of this product. I would like to install it in the bumper in front of the radiator but I don't know if it will fit.

I can't install it under the aero lip as the car is too low because of the coilovers.

need to find the size (plate and arm when closed). :gotme

It says in the item description: "The Swift Hide-a-Plate fits on many vehicles, most Audi's, Volkswagen's, Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros, Cadillac's, and more. If your car has a flat spot under the bumper that goes at least 10" straight back, and wide enough for a license plate, this should fit on your car too!!"

I'll take measurements of the hole in the bumper tomorrow when I get a chance. If it has more than 10" I'll order one. :dblthumb:

Definitely inside the bumper...less issues when driving in snow or wet roads I think.

Looks like the plate will fit, I just have to see how deep we can go. I really don't want to see the tip of the plate so we'll need more than 10" space for sure.

I took a look and it doesn't look like it will fit. I think the space going in is only about 9". :frown:

I am assuming 10" is needed for the bracket to fit in. I wonder if bracket can be modified somehow. Maybe cut out an inch of it.

I found this one that requires 9" deep space....http://www.hidetheplate.com/product_inf ... ducts_id=2

Anyways, any ideas on what source to use for power? Maybe parking lights?

It's the same part.

It's 9" long without the motor.

I wish I had one in-hand so that I can see what could be done to make it fit.

I was thinking ignition for a power source. When the car is running, the plate will be up, when car is off, it will retract. I was under the impression these came with some kind of controller? Not sure exactly what they are referring to by that term.

I appreciate you posting the link. I wish they had an install and owner's manual listed. I guess what I am getting at is the fact that with "2 wire hookup", that means most likely constant power and a ground. You would then control the unit with the supplied remotes. I would prefer a unit that does not need a remote to operate; rather operates off of ignition power to flip up and retract. I would also think a unit such as that would lower the price, say to that magic $99 mark.

Wiring the unit is not a problem, you can wire it any which way you want. Now making it fit in the bumper is the hard part.

Now if you go with the unit without the remotes and the motor I'm sure this can be installed with no problems.

But I want it with the motor. Not having the product on hand to try to install it is my problem.
