Hi everyone,

I was reconsidering my set-up, and I was interested about the Greddy kit for ca18det (not available from a long time but can find it on the net), with a td05/06 turbo, AND, the associated manifold, with external WG.

BUT, I got a LHD silvia, so, is this kit bolt-on, OR is there some minor mods to do, OR is it impossible to use, because of the steering column?

THX

Sorry buddy, but it won't clear the steering column without some cutting and welding. I have seen it done a few times, but it isnt really a direct fit. Those manifolds are also prone to cracking, so you should keep that in mind.

I've got the turbos, but all the used manifolds are cracked up. Even if it would clear a LHD, which it won't, the steel used was not good.

Why the focus on the TD? Do you already have it or something?

Just take a top mount T2-flanged manifold and a thick chunk of steel plate.

Place a T2 gasket and a TD06 gasket over each other so the exhaust paths are lined up as best they can be.

Draw the outline and the location of the bolt holes of both gaskets on the plate with a sharpie.

Drill pilot holes and tap the plate for studs; the TD studs aiming one way, the T2 studs the other.

Using the gaskets separately this time draw the interior profile from the TD gasket on the TD side and the T2 on the T2 side.

Drill successively larger holes to open up the plate and then get in there with a grinding bit and shape the rectangular T2 inlet into as clean a blend to the round TD outlet as possible.

Thread your studs in and install the plate on the manifold and then bolt the turbo to the plate.

ENJOY!

The Greddy Mitsubishi turbos come in a t2 flanged option. I just got a TD05SH 18G with a Nissan T2 inlet flange and 5-bolt outlet flange. Bolts right up to my stock manifold! You can try companies like Forced Performance and Blouch, they make a large variety of Mitsubishi turbos and might have something to suit you.

A buddy of mine is running a TD0x turbo off of a chinese t3 topmount with the MHI 3-bolt flange welded on. Custom downpipe but it's a relatively easy fit.

You could adapt the old greddy bottom mounts cutting and welding on a wastegate arm that pointed forward, but you'd still be doing a custom downpipe (which is more of a pain in the a** than the topmount setup because the turbine basically exits straight into the steering column).

Don't get discouraged if you wanna run the old greddy s***, it's worth it in the end in my opinion. My bottom mount is all cracked and oxidized to s***. It's been welded and rewelded dozens of times and there's big snot welds in the collector but by GOD does it make this motor sound sexy. Unequal length headers + lope from hotter cams = great idle.

if youre dead set on a mits td0X turbo you can get a 20g in a t2 flange. tomei also has a pair of turbos that appear identical to mits 20g's. theyre the arms 7960 and 8270. theyre t2 and about the same price as a 2871
