Not sure if this should be in the Classifieds as I am not selling anything. Just wanted to let people know that I found these on eBay today at half the price of the others that are available.

http://www.ebay.com/

If this is in the wrong forum apologies.

Intriguing, looks like someone is ripping copies from Z Thirty Two's design, and etching the logo off. :nono:
Lol

I called it. Their price was too high to not be 'ripped off'. if that's actually the case.

I'm not selling or benefiting so I can't comment on it being copied. Looking at z thirty two's web site pics though I can't see a logo on the bezel to compare with one being etched off. I'll take a close look though when mine comes in and see.

Well at least you didn't do it knowingly.

This is Interior Innovations. The same company that makes garbage interior trim kits for our cars.

I'm failing to see how this is a ripoff: How many differen't ways can there possibly be to make an OEM trim piece fit a double din radio? Like, in what way would it even look different if two different companies created the same part with the same function? would you want them to look different in the car? I'm sure that's a no.

I'd be worried if they actually did shave the 'original' companies logo off and sold it for more, or if it had some type of identifying design on it that made it look different than the factory trim piece. However, if they both look factory, calling one a knockoff just because it's cheaper than the first is retarded. You guys really don't know how cheap it is to make injection molded plastic molds and items, do you? If anything you guys should be concerned that someones trying to scam people from spending 200 dollars more for something that cost them less than 50 dollars to make a few dozen out of. Even nowadays, this thing could be 3d printed and be even cheaper than 50 to manufacture.

You can not 3D print, SLA or other rapid prototype with the finish of OEM parts. Even a soft tooled injection molded part costs thousands in tooling. A soft tool for your average complexity ABS part with 2 cavities runs around $4-5K, and you can shoot roughly 100-150 parts. More than that and you're better off going with a hard tool, and that costs 2x-3x what a soft tool costs. So $10K (low estimate) over 100 parts is $100, just in tooling cost.

According to the owner of ZThirtyTwo, Khalid purchased one unit, and had it copied. There are distinct features in the backside of the ZThirtyTwo unit which will determine with absolute certainty if it is a knock off.

For the record, Khalid has not denied it's a copy on another forum where he was asked about it.

Z Thirty Two confirmed it's a copy of their first mold version, and it doesn't have the later adjustments of their second mold.
