So my girlfriend drove my car into a brick wall....

as for fixing it, my junkyard has 3 240's out there with the earlier front end from 89, I was wondering about if the radiator support and everything frontward from the engine (including radiator) comes off by bolts or do i gotta bust the torch out?

and the inside fender picture i showed, i don't know if you can tell but it got pushed in pretty bad, am i going to have to cut and reweld that?

other than that, the frame is still straight, but the brake pedal is stiff now and i'm amazed the radiator stayed intact, or even that the engine still makes the car move.

Any suggestions on the repair work? (i would go silvia front end, but ordering the parts and shipping is F'ing expensive.

so going oldschool with the lip!!!!

i'm going to start the teardown this sunday, I'll repost with all the true damage.

just trying to get an idea of the work im about to put myself through.

woman drivers im pretty sure youre going to have to put it on a frame machine, break the spot welds and replace/repair the inner fender b/c therres structural damage... you maybe able to sleeve it. you could take out the torch, but id advise you to undo all the bolts then find the welds and break em. is she ok? had to have been going pretty fast.youd be better off finding a shell, theyre everywhere. its hard to tell from the sideways picture.

yeah, shes alright, was a bit shook up, but, otherwise fine. I'm just glad it was the car and not her.

She was doing about 20-25mph maybe a bit slower by the time of impact.(EDIT: 30-40mph... she lied to me the first time... this is the second answer i got... what'll be the third?!?)

If you could Clarify about the welds you are talking about breaking?

and, sorry about the crooked pictures, ill send a decent pic this time. (was in a hurry to get the post up before work).

From the clutch fan on the engine forward is needing to be replaced. along with driver inside fender, hood, headlights, etc etc.

It Drives straight, no disposition of the wheel, no pulling, and most of all, doesn't look crooked when seen rolling from outside view, but, if there is a certain way to check the frame/chassis lemme know.

The bumper support is pushed back to the radiator support which was slightly pushed back only on the left side**

the right side only seen damage from the bumper tearing and pulling.

so hit it at a slight angle. maybe about 160 degree angle (if i remember geometry class...)

trying to avoid finding a shell = more money than i want to spend. but if it would be cheaper to go about finding a shell.......i might go for it.

but i have a mig welder and torch, im okay with them... so i was figuring it could be my project for feburary.

the frame is seam/spot welded, look closely for indentations, either rectangular or circle shaped, if you grind a little bit, they should be easier to see, along the rail and all around where the fender is bolted to.

Strip the car out, Add a roll cage fuel cell etc. Replace the fender and go dirt track racing!

I have seen worse. If you are experianced in Damage repair than I say go for it. Take your time but worth it to save a 240

Wow man I don't even know what some of that stuff is that's oozing out the front how does one run into an inanimate object, that big??

My ex ruined my interior, see what had happened was everytime we did the nasty... nevermind lol anyways hell yeah I'd go for it, fix that bad dude! Shoot if I had a welder and torch and flux capacitors I'd go to town on my 240s~!

Best of luck to ya

Wow, that looks almost identical to what the aftermath of my crash looked like. Only difference is mine cracked my intercooler and bent the frame.

Pull the fenders off and double check the damage on the frame. You also said that the brake pedal went stiff? I would check for bent/kinked lines. It would be a good idea to check all of the front suspension components.

The front radiator support is spot welded to the frame rails, fender holders (for lack of an official term) and is one with the front inside wall of the engine bay as well. You will need to torch/sawzall it off.
