Does anyone know of any such boards like this for Lexus owners? I have a friend looking real hard at a Lexus, I've tried to make the Infiniti/Nissan pitch to no avail.

For what it's worth they are in the advertising business, I told them they're just falling for the hype. :)

Any help would be great. They're looking at the ES300's (yawn, boring)

Ugh, ES300. The slanty-eyed LExus.

Well, try http://www.lexusownersclub.com/

Ahhhhhhhhhh, feeling the love :)

I've TRIED and tried to talk them out of a Lexus, then Friday night they go to look at an ES300 and the dealer's closed??? We all walk over to look at it anyway and sitting right next to it is a Gold 1994 Q45a w/ 120K and a sticker of $9,000. They ask about it and of course I have to say "oh, you wouldn't want that it has an active suspension". The abuse didn't stoip for hours.

Why am I helping them again????

AZ, you still going to Cleveland?

The most susceptible to any sales hype are salesmen themselves. They did not come to their career guided by the rewards of observation and reason evidenced in the sciences and engineering. It is hopeless to show them the obvious since their aim is to deny it or alter our percption of it.

The Lexus brand is chock full of "bling bling." You immediately conjure up mental images of rappers, rich old fat cats, sports figures, big houses, etc.

With Infiniti... no matter how damn good the products are, no matter how much lower the price is, people typically think less of it.

I guess some buyers just want more bling for the buck. :(

Keep in mind that half of the "bling" you see is, in fact, cheap electroplating.

The same holds true for cars in many instances.

"Lexus is all about luxury. In this car you won't feel the road...it's made to isolate you from the outside world." This is what a Lexus salesperson told me after making me wait around like 20 minutes for some attention.

Can you blame me for turning around and walking out? I can't decide what was worse: his attitude or the car!!

My father in law's sister returned a Mercedes to get a Lexus. That's why I never will!!! (Mercedes OR Lexus)

Great Site: http://www.Clublexus.com

I don't know how you can call Lexus crap, I think that both Lexus and Infinity make awsome cars.

But calling them crap becuase you don't own one is kinda ignorant.

I curently own a 96 Lexus Sc300 and im looking to buy either a 2001 Q45 or a 2001 Ls430

Hopefully i will be able to find some useful info on this site

Thanks Justin

Justin - Welcome to NICO!

I think what was meant above is that every car group has another that is its "competition". There's not a whole lot of cars in its class that can compete with the 90-95 Q45 performance-wise. However, it seems Lexus has more brand recognition and supposed prestige associated with its name... Infiniti's always been the underdog, primarily due to some unwise advertising decisions and a couple questionable styling experiments.

If you're looking at '01 Q's, they're a great car - And you'll find tons of helpful info here.

Justin - Welcome

I think what you see here isn't a thought that "Lexus is crap" as much as a "my team's better than yours" kind of guy thing.

In fact, I think a few (NOT ALL) of us would be driving a Lexus if they would have beent he more affordable Used Luxury V8 when we were looking.

You will find a wealth of knowledge here.

The owners on this board are more inclined to be gearheads. Therefore, most Lexus cars would not get much appreciation here.

I admire Lexus for its high quality and smoothness. But am turned off by its blandness.

And I love MB for precise German engineering and a smooth-but-not-numb driving experience. I dislike MB for low quality, and poor performance for the price. And these days, extreme blandness too.

Yeah, I admire the Lexus LS' supreme quietness, but beyond that I'd take a Q45 any day. I find it hard to justify the Lexus GS430's over $50K price tag when the Infiniti M45 is cheaper and faster.

Ill never forget the commercial with the LS400 on the dyno and the wine glasses on the engine!!! That was a very good commercial!!!

And I guarntee I would be driving an LS400 if I didnt find the Q..... When I was car shopping, I wanted a car that was semi inexpensive but screamed "HE IS LOADED, HOW MUCH DID THAT COST"..... And with lexus, cadillac, and BMW, that is the first thing that comes to peoples mind...... But looking back, Id rather have more performance than a really quiet ride (and how much quieter is the LS400 that the Q, because the Q is pretty damn quiet....)...... They dont make radios for nothing........

I have a 94 or 95 Road & Track that did a Luxo comparison and the Q had the lowest db cabin reading at 70mph.

That LS400 ad was very memorable, along with that old ad of the Lincoln driving down the road with the record player on top of it not skipping a beat.

in 92 and 93 a manual transmission was an option for the ES300, but not in any other years. pretty rare, but that's the Lexus i would look for.

even better would be a SC300 with turbo'd engine swap/kit/whatever. i saw a SC300 with a turbo'd 2JZ on a dyno, it sounded really nice, but blew the intercooler piping on the first run. he was putting out over 300hp, don't remember exactly.

My reco to them is either a slightly used I30 or an I35. They don't need RWD and would probably get themselves in trouble during the winter.

I think they're gonna test drive a few ES300's and then they said they'd test drive an "I". We'll see.
