and the Stock Heat Exchanger.

According to Pat at Level 10 (very helpful, BTW), the existing heat exchanger and screw on filter is critical to the life of the Sprag Gear.

Can anyone shed any light ont his subject?

FYI - It seems my Level 10 transmission has lost the sprag gear due to insufficient flow (1 liter per 30 sec) or under cooling.

Can you elaborate on the sprag gear and the screw-on filter?

The screw on filter is really the "oil filter" looking filter by the passenger side of the radiator/heat exchanger.

The Sprag Gear is supposedly a gear at thew rear of the transmission by the ATF return line.

I'm just trying to learn so i can better understand how to extend the life of my next transmission .

Oh, the 1994+ engine compartment ATF filter and planetary gears?

Haven't made it to SA yet to meet with Skibane and see if series vs. direct ATF line has the same pressure drop on the G50 he measured on the FY33.

With so many people running direct with NO filter with little or no problems, i dont see how this would be any different. Im inclined ot think that the cooler/filter (or lack thereof) has ANYTHING to do with this.

The FEATURES are filter and heat exchanger.....really need to look at the BENEFITS of these 2 features.... cooler, cleaner fluid-of course the transmission will last longer!

Well, it's (somewhat) standard practice to by pass both fot hese items when adding the external transmission cooler.

skibane took some line pressure readings that they created greater backpressure for the ATF coming out of the transmission.

And that was my question if it was due toe the joke coke can design of the FY33 heat exchanger or if the later G50 would flow better.
