Post pics of backfires if you like!..

..So i have a 1991 180sx imported from Japan with a Sr20det, apexi twin chamber BOV, apexi cone air filter, stock intercooler, stock dump and front pipe and cat. , Biltz cat-back exhaust 3''

running stock boost

just wondering if this happends to anyone else ..

my car never back fires @ high rpms or when i hit the limiter

it only backfires when i drive casually, just chilling when i get to about 2000 RPM and let go of the gaz ..rpm slowly drops and pops a backfire @ exactly 1300 RPM. it does it only on 3rd and 2nd gear... especially in 2nd.. get reaaalllllly sound!!! hahaha love it!!

and i can do this 50 times in a row ..it's ALWAYS gonna backfire @ 1300 rpm

just f***ing love scaring people in parking lots!! they never expect it on a car moving soo slow.

..soo just wondering if this happends to any one else!??

peace out.. and enjoy those backfires

lol....i have a similar setup and ive always noticed it backfiring only at lower rpms. so.... in 2nd gear hold it till 2000 then throw in the clutch? or leave it in gear to let the car slow the engine to 1300?

my old sr ran awesome till i put my hks ssqv on then i got that back fire

it was caused by a rich fuel mixture due to the mafs not reading correct airflow

but if its a recirculating bov it should not im lost sorry i couldnt help

does your recirculate

touch the pedal by a hair.. and **stoufff** lol .. bah it can handle a tiny tiny super mini bit of compresor surge

My car never backfires, but it occasionally throws a foot-long blue flame from the exhaust pipe. It has an SR20 with 3" catless exhaust, and hks ssqv vented to atmosphere. Tuned to run rich on a neo.

Unburnt gas in the exhaust, usually a result of timing.

Ever drive an SRT4 with open pipes? The way the Mopar computer handles the timing is curious, because those pop all the way down the road when your foot is off the gas.

Yeah a kid i went to school with dad bought him one, as a father/son project and its crazy poppy, it sounds terrible, and when I raced him in my mustang back in the day he shot dual flames out the exhaust as he passed me, then I got my 240 and did my swap and was faster

My car shoots flames if I'm revving it out at the track. Sometimes it randomly goes bang when I drive around on the street at low rpm.
