This is some wires with a sensor connected to it, it splits off of the plug that clips onto the Maf. What is this little guys purpose and why is it just hanging loose in my engine bay?

*I also have a CEL, maybe it's the culprit?

well like i said, im pretty sure thats the intake air temp sensor, not sure why s14's have them. maybe its an obdII thing.

it should insert into the intake piping behind the filter, see if theres a random hole somewhere.

ok random question about that... my intake has it in the metal bottom portion of the air filter... i doubt the after market filter came with a hole for that sensor, so im guessing they drilled a hole in it or something to plug it in. Im not sure it that is fine or if its one of the reasons my engine light stays on. This adapter you guys are talking about.. i tried searching on ebay but couldnt find it, what did you type in? or is it fine where it is...?

im pretty sure you've got to make a hole to put it into or something, i was reading installation instructions for a s14 or something and they told how to do it.

Just plug it in and put the end of the sensor inside the airfilter and clamp it back down. I had to do that on my s14 when I made my first maf adapter and k&n filter in 98.

yes well you also said 1. your pretty sure2. your not sure3. maybe

so if I was the OP I would be looking for a confident answer like Ty P's instead of someones who takes a stab at the answer then gets upset at the guy who confirms what YOU guessed at.
