Sooo...
Two former acquaintances of mine were driving along and came up to a toll plaza on the toll road. As they perused the signs to see which lane to choose the drivers (Wayne) attention was irresistibly drawn to the last option/lane. There weren't any cars in this lane... which he absolutely couldn't understand! Galen (the passenger) tried to reason with him, but he was impervious to all entreaties; in fact, he was becoming more and more agitated and excited every moment. The toll guy made Wayne get out of the car and go into the booth with him. They were locked in there together for a good 10 min. and when Wayne emerged it was with an indescribable sense of satisfaction, though some difficulty in walking. The toll booth operator waved a cheerful goodbye as he walked toward the vehicle. By this time Galen (who told me this story) had exited the vehicle and was hiding in the bushes beside the road watching. Wayne waddled to the car, climbed in and drove off, apparently not even noticing Galen's absence. Neither Galen nor I have ever been in contact with Wayne since, but we hear he visits the toll guy regularly...
Can someone help me explain this strange incident?
