elwesso wrote:you guys can see on the homepage of NICO there is the ride of the month. Well, I'd like to see more of the complete (or complete-ish) VH projects be on the homepage, as im sure everyone here would like seeing their car/truck on the main page on NICO..
I know we've got swapped 240s, 300ZXs, old Zs, old skylines, pathfinders, and many many more.
I would say that if your car runs decently and you still arent figuring out problems with the swap itself, you are eligible. Doesnt matter if the car is clean or a show car, but people like to see VH swapped stuff.
Reason I bring this up is in Nashville this weekend at the show a guy had an S14 with a 1UZ.. At first I didnt know what it was, then I saw it was a 1UZ and the FIRST thing I said to the guy was "its too bad thats not a VH45"..
People are doing the 1UZ stuff because the info is out there and more people have done it than VH swaps.. The hype is that VH45s are more expensive, harder to maintain, and dont fit as well. The only one I believe is the last one, because the VH is kind of a monster, but they DO fit in an S14..
We all know the VH is a superior motor to the 1UZ and really a superior motor to most Japanese motors, period. Your project can inspire others to do the same after they see it CAN be done and its NOT that hard!
When Nick's is done, it will be a cover car for more then NICO, A few mags I could see.npez wrote:Mine's still in progress. I've got $3K worth of stuff happening all at the same time: manifolds being built in a couple of weeks, custom front sway bar getting fabbed at Addco currently, HPC HiperCoat Extreme/HiperCoat coatings starting this week, chroming of several parts, hoses, just a bunch of stuff in addition to 3 shelves full of parts in my garage. When it's done, I think it'll be homepage worthy, but at the moment it's just a "log" sitting in my garage . As all the stuff is happening now, I expect a bunch of parts within a month, so I'm hoping it'll come together very-very quickly after that.
Thanks,Nick.
Thanks Craig. And I agree with you there are a *lot* of hours and money wrapped up in our cars to make sure they're correct and look like Nissan intended it this way. Since I sold the M3, I can now focus all my resources to the Z so I can get as close to show quality look as I can. We'll see how everything turns out.craigztoyz wrote:

Mettler couldn't be more right. But, I am there, part of the 1 %, only 300 hours since Jan, and she drives. I do love this idea though. As the engine looks at home, and belongs in the engine bays we are putting them in.

Yours is all nice and show, Mine is nice, but I am building it more as, 'what if back in '89 Nissan had decided to build a Z to really compete with the US toys in their own game(V8 5spd, 2 dr 4 seater, RWD, no boost), and when they rolled out the Q45, rolled out the Z45.' But I did make a lot of aluminum crap shine, just had to, but it needs rebuffed soon. I plan to drive it over that way later this month.
Cool! I know what you mean about keeping it NA and the whole american muscle thing; but since I'm putting this motor in, I had to match my stickers on the spoiler ("twin-turbo") . Anyway, when you're down this way make sure to give me a ring and maybe stop on by. I'd love to take a look at the beast. Great job again in getting everything working.craigztoyz wrote:Nick, Sounds sweet, but man that was a nice ride.
