Hello CA Family! I was just wondering what everyone is using or planning to use for cooling purposes. Are the upper and lower inlets the same on either the KA or SR radiators? I was planning to get a KOYO radiator for the KA or SR but I wanted to use CA specific SAMCO radiator hoses. Can I do this or will they not line up? I also wanted to use Flex-a-lite dual fans.

Summary for those who dont wanna read:-KA or SR KOYO Radiator-Dual Flex-a-Lite fans-SAMCO Upper and Lower Radiator hoses

What is everyone else using? I'm trying to do the best on a limited budget so any reliable "ghetto rigs" would be great too. Post pics if ya got em.

Thanks!-Ian

I was talking to Robert Chen from project silvia and he was saying that the KA radiator should work fine, but he's not totally sure about using it.

Ian, being the ghetto bastard I am, I'm using the KA A/C electric fan, mounted on the back of my KA radiator! Ray (drumma) is using the same set up, as is many of the other Orlando guys, and that seems to work fine! And its basically free:D

Well, I bought the dual electric fans off a pulsar at the junkyard cheap...but then I figured out there was allready an electric fan on the radiator (yes, sometimes I am stupid) so I might make them spin the opposite direction or something and make them push air through the radiator while the stock one pulls it...but I dunno, I'll watch the water temp gauge really closely once its up and running and see what happens, I might mount the electric fans on the back of the fmic too...to prevent heat soak when its sitting and just idling, we'll see what happens!

guys the water temp isnt very accurate and that little aircondioner condensor fan wasnt desgined to flow enough to cool the car! ! i wouldnt risk running anything less then a 12" electric or a clutch fan! and you guys are in hotter part of the country ! i worry about cooling issues with my fan i couldnt even think about using that tiny tiny fan !

oh, I am going to use the stock clutch fan I do believe TOO...I'll find a way to make the darn thing work, cant be too tough...if the shroud doesnt work right...epoxy is your friend.

anyone think I could make a custom shroud out of aluminum and rivets? Or maybe plastic sheeting and a heat gun? I'm gonna try it! who knows...maybe it'll work well!:D

Oh, I definitely think so...I'd just use plastic, a heat gun, and epoxy...with that combination you cant loose. I rebuilt my friends wheelwell liner with epoxy and duct tape...looks just fine, spraypaint it black and your good to go. If you know anything about fiberglass you could do it that way too...in fact, I just might!
