When will you use the O/D switch ?If your Versa is CVT and AutoT.

Also Can I use it as the Engine Brake ?

I've only needed to use the OD button when driving up steep hills (CVT owner).

On the CVT, I find the programmed engine braking feature works well enough - never tried the OD button on long inclines.

I find it's a little extra kick in the butt when I'm passing people on a two lane rural road I'm fond of taking.

And hills?

Florida, haha.

Turning the O/D off does seem to let the engine rev up a bit more. I punch it off if I have to turn onto a busy street without a traffic light. It seems to help.

I know the car computer is "trainable," but it would be nice to have a "Scotty give me that power or we're all dead" button. I take it easy for mileage most of the time, when you want ommmmpph, it would be nice to be able to get it no matter how paper-trained the computer is.

Heck, I had a computer 15 years ago with a "booster" switch, why can't my Versa have one? :-)

Engine Brake means that I use the O/D switch for slowing down the car. Like using the low gear in manualT Versa.

I've got to agree. I live in the Smoky Mountains and the CVT engine braking works quite well. (Too well, sometimes. I used to drive a stick and there are lots of places I'm surprised at where I used to coast but now I've got to give it a little gas to keep the speed up.)

I only ever use the OD button when I have a steep incline to go up, out of a stop, and am afraid the car would try to "shift" when I know there's more incline yet to come.

I've only used the O/D switch on my SL CVT a few times. Most common has been to reduce speed on icy roads. This is just a holdover from my non-ABS equipped cars, and I should probably stop doing it, since the brake lights don't go on.

Otherwise, I find that the automatic downhill rise in rpm is pretty much spot on, although like Kc5f, I would appreciate a bit more coast on the long downhills.

All-in-all I have to say that I love the CVT. It is a bit different than an average automatic to drive, but I can't imagine why any car would come with a conventional automatic (other than price, of course).

a very rare grammatical mistake.

in my defense, it was very late.

i deserved that, though.
