Well maybe not. Seeing as how I beleive I am the only one on the board with one in an S13 I guess I would be talking to myself. Oh well I've been doing it for years!

Oooooh the Big beast FJ is BOLTED DOWN in Damien, theory and speculation have given way to reality! I have to pull it back out and clean it up, put the clutch plates back in and check it for leaks. I drove the engine home in a rusted out DR30 Skyline that used to belong to a freind. Well that car is picked over and laying naked in the sun like a carcass!

Unfortunately the Skyline had more space behind the engine and the HKS turbo kit on the FJ wants about 4" more clearance to clear the downpipe. SLEDGEHAMMER!!!!

Wiring it is going to drive me sane I'm sure but it's a trivial hurdle to traverse.

TMS, you are sick. Hope you get some good pics for us. Why not document the install and do a lil step by step just for kicks...? That'd be cool..

CA18 transmission with an RB bellhousing, 1 FJ motor mount and 1 CA motor mount. Now comes the fun part; sledgehammer to the firewall to clear a downpipe and saw to the hood to clear the entire engine!!!

While the project sounds cool and all... I thought you were gonna be talking about a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40.... oh well.

hey mad scientist. are those motors as bullet proof as people say?

Ive seen a few 7 second ones in austraila ( at least through jpeg format etc on tghe intraweb)

FJ is always something ive looked at as cool because people have said it had formula 1 roots, strong valvetrain, and 86x86.

Is any of that true? What about hard to source parts like water pumps, timing belts / chains (what drive is it) etc?

Its really one of the motors i haven't had any experience and hardly am able to read up on the sonof a *****.i'm using a vg in my s13 now, so I'm more than capable of doing mounts and stuffs.

are they hard to get stateside ? are you stateside ?

i know you can get FJs though australian import/export companies. Mad lives in japan but i think his home state is virginia or newjersey or something.

Other than that i dont know anything about FJs :( I wish i did, they are really cool....
