I 'think" it's the bearings in the A/C clutch as the noise varies when you turn the A/C on/off. Anyone heard this before?

Not yet, Before I opened the hood I too thought it was transmission, but it seems to be coming more from the front of the car. I want to pull the a/c belt and see if the noise goes away. Steering doesn't affect it. It was raining out, so it's just water.

Mine makes that noise, and it is from the A/C clutch. Spray some wd-40, or pb blaster into the clutch. If the sound goes away, or lessens, bingo.

That's what i thought it was. I'll try that when i see the car next
