Hi there guys , i need your opinions and suggestions about part selection for my engine head.

Now my small 83mm CA18det is running 2860RS @1 bar .

Wiseco 83.0 mm Forged Pistons
K1 Forged Rods
ACL Race Main & Rod Bearings ( 0.25 )
ARP Head Studs
Cometic Head Gasket
New Oem Oil pomp
New Oem Water pomp
Custom exhaust manifold
XS racing turbo elbow
Garrett GT2860RS-5 .64ar
Port polish
Aem 80mm Dry Flow Filtre
9 liter Front Mount Intercooler
Walbro 255lph benzin pompasi
550cc DSM injectors
NGK BCPR7ES Sparks
bronze Valve guides
HKS SSQv BOV
76MM single piece straight exhaust pipe
XForce Varex 76mm Exhaust
Nismo Type-A Fuel Reg.
Splitfire Coil Pack

Power FC

etc..

Now my 1st pistons oil valve seals are dead. so i'm going to open up my engine head. And want to rebuild / tune my head specs for my needs.

Goals : Faster turbo response / more Mid-high range torque . Also capable for high level boost.

Now i'm running with stock valves , hydro lifters with stock cam shafts ( 4 port head )

As my researches , there is a 2 main roads to follow .

1- Stay with stock lifters with HKS/Tomei 8.5lift cam shafts with customisable cam gears.

2- Solid lifters , new set of valve springs retainers seats . with more aggressive cam shafts like tomei procams 9.5 lift etc.

Thats my first head design , so please be gentle and suggest me brands and datas.

i'm using car for drifting only. So faster response and mid-high range torque is my main goal ..

Budget is not limited , but i'm not planning to pass over 1500 $ or so .

Thank you guys.

planning on doing any port work to the head while it is off? it sounds like you will like option 2 more. getting the car to spool sooner and be more responsive will just take some tuning with the cam gears and timing in the tune.

With that turbo, go with option 1. 8.5mm lift with something like 256 or 260 duration will be great for what you are doing. Tomei is probably one of the only places you can get cams these days, right? You may be able to find some HKS or JUN 264/8.5mm cams, but they will probably be used. Not sure how the situation is for cams over there.

Those and some uprated valve springs/retainers will have you all set. Don't forget to have new valve guides/seals and everything put in when you do the head! (though you mention needing new seals, so this will probably be first on your list)

Budget US$ 450 - 550 for cams (Tomei, shipped), $250 - 300 for springs (Tomei, shipped), and $60 for retainers (OEM, shipped). Then US$ 150 for valve seals (IN & EXH, EPP Viton, shipped), $100 for valve seats (assuming you want to replace them, OEM, shipped) and $100 - 325 for valve guides ($100, OEM, shipped, or $325, Tomei bronze, shipped). All my prices are EBay, so take them with a grain of salt. Supertech also sells this cool kit which includes double valve springs, retainers, and seats, for US$394 shipped worldwide. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Supertech-Dual- ... c4&vxp=mtr

Anyway, good luck!

Take it from from the old schooler, option 1 is the best route for your drifting stuff. You don't want to play with the solid lifters or the massive cams with this engine for drifting (unnecessary). And with option 1, you don't need adjustable cam gears. Again, avoid option 2 :nono:

thank you guys for all advices , my researches continuing .

For now , i'm planing to keep valves stock and all other moving parts be aftermarket .

BUT . i have 4 consideration .

1. İ have changed my guides 8000km ago when i rebuilded the engine . since they nearly new , still should i change them with upgraded ones ? they where bronze.
2. valve oil seals . should they be aftermarket or oem ones ? everbody i speak who builded new head said use OEM ones.
3. Supertech valve spring - retainers set : twin springs are making me nervous . because i see lot of them had broken . Do you suggest this supertech set . because it is a bargain , and on your suggestions , very good kit to buy .
4. Hydro lifters : some of mines are clicking a little . should i buy a new oem set ? or clean them and put back. ?

thank you for answering boring questions

Valve guides dont need to be changed unless they are worn or you are using valves of a material that the guides cant handle.

Valve stem seals is not a big concern, i have used alot of atermarket ones without any issues.
I have Audi guides in my head with some non-audi seals :)

New lifters wouldnt be a bad idea, if you can find some cheap ones.

I heard of someone using Audi seals :)

Tommey any chance you can sell me a set or halve a dozen of cd20 conrods? I have the cd20 crank but having budget issues going for custom I beam rods. I might just have the crank reworked to take 4g63 rods or use SRT longer rods with custom pistons http://www.manleyperformance.com/sc/mk/ ... rods.shtml
