Let me make sure I understand this (wheel spacer/offset math)

Bit of a newb question, sorry, I've never used spacers before and the stickies aren't terribly clear on the subject.

So I am looking at some rims that came off an Altima, 18x7.5 +45 offset. Yeah, I know, FWD offset. If I understand this correctly, this means that the rim will be mounted too far inside the wheel well and could knock up against the brakes/struts/what have you (if it even bolts on properly at all) if it stays at +45 offset. So to correct this, I want to install some 20mm spacers to even things out, and if I understand the offset math correctly this will effectively make my offset behave as if it were +25 and not look quite as goofy?

everything you say is true. however, 18x7.5 +25 will still look goofy. i mean 18s will be big, and 7.5 is hella small.

Thanks for the responses.

The width doesn't concern me quite so much, I am looking for a balance between looks and ride quality. I'm no racer, so I can suck up some narrowness if it saves me pointless tire wear from a useless footprint.

Not like it matters anyways. The item was an ebay auction, and the part number listed in the auction did not match the picture. The picture was for the 350z-style Nismo rims, but the part number was for the Sentra-style rims. Shame on you, Freehold Nissan. Looks like its Infiniti 7-spokes for me then.
