Hey guys, my 240 is giving me some ****. It wont start half the time and half the time it does start, the guages light up but they dont work. Like I can drive wherever I want, but my speedometer, temp, fuel, rpm etc. guages dont work. Any suggestions?

Thanks-sci0n-

Sounds like an electrical problem to me. Time to bust out the multimeter and start checking the connections.

Could be a bad ground somewhere, The negative battery terminal would be as good a place as any to start.

Yea I thought that at first, but I literally just had the battery replaced yesterday, it worked fine before all this, could it be the new battery?

It could be the battery, but maybe just the way the battery was installed. Check that the connections at the terminals are tight. and if you have a multimeter check the voltage between the terminals.

check your meter fuse and other fuses. if the gauges worked untill you put the battery in I suspect the battery cables were breifly touched to the wrong posts and poped a fuse or 2. as far as the intermitten no start. since it will start sometimes it wouldnt be a fuse as that failure. you may have a bad starter or starte interupt device. manuals trans cars tend to have a problem with either the switch on the clutch pedal or the relay under the hood for the clutch interupt.

punch the fuse/relay box near the battery repeatedly. See if that changes anything. Also punch/kick/wiggle it while the motor is runnign and see if anything funky happens
